Title: Come Quietly
Format: 7"
Label: All Hands Electric
Country: USA
Price: $3.75
"Edition of 500. Culled from the archive of unreleased songs by Zachary Cale comes two unearthed gems, available for the first time through All Hands Electric. Recorded during the interim of his second LP "Walking Papers" and his band Illuminations "See-Saw" LP, these two songs were originally cut as demos, but the fresh sound and spontaneity of the recordings warranted a release of their own. "Come Quietly" is a field recording from the modern age, complete with chirping birds and the groan of passing cars. The song is a sort of noir narrative with lyrics that illustrate a dialogue between a captor and his captive. Taking cues from the pre-war folk tradition, Cale adopts the voice of both characters. Featuring mournful mandolins and tortured harmonicas over a countrified mariachi stomp, its as ragged and tuneful as folk music gets, and the inflections in Cales glass-breaking yowl recall some of Kurt Cobains acoustic demos from the Sup Pop heyday. "The Wedding Party" is a stream of consciousness ode to love with lyrical images floating by like faces in train windows. The vocal melody is undeniably catchy, sitting perfectly in the space between hypnotic fingerpicked guitar rhythms and ghost-like backing harmonies courtesy of Prudence Teacup. With its rapid fire couplets and unabashed pop-minded melody it sounds kind of like Bob Dylan covering the Beach Boys in a dimly lit basement. The rush of images and the giddy, pulse like rhythm makes "The Wedding Party" another classic in Zachary Cales growing canon of songs." -All Hands Electric

Title: Outlander Sessions
Format: LP
Label: New World of Sound
Country: USA
Price: $9.75
"Outlander Sessions is a personal statement about distance, isolation and alienation brought on by love, and the transition from rock guitarist to solo acoustic performer. Zachary Cale was previously a member of several short lived Olympia college bands inspired by Dead Moon, Unwound, and Pere Ubu. Upon his arrival to Harlem NYC in 2002 and affected by the tunesmithery of Peter Laughner, Tim Hardin and Townes Van Zandt, Zack recorded this LP of ballads, Highway 61 rockers, and finger picked instrumentals. Silkscreened covers ltd. edition of 400." - NWOS. First new NWOS release in years (previous titles include No Neck, Brother Love, Tono Bungay, Suntanama, Fuzzhead, Mike Rep, Zalvi, Plague Lounge (Ben Chasny), etc..).

Title: Walking Papers
Format: LP
Label: All Hands Electric
Country: USA
Price: $10.50
"WALKING PAPERS, the sophomore album by Zachary Cale, marks the artists leap from a four-track-bedroom-folkie to a songwriter of visionary scope. Recorded in 2005 in the legendary Bearsville Sound Studios by Marcata engineer, Kevin Mcmahon (The Walkmen, Titus Andronicus), WALKING PAPERS was granted a belated release in December 2008 on the burgeoning Brooklyn-based label, All Hands Electric. Ghostly in sound, the album evokes the austere finger-style guitar work of John Fahey and the poetic couplets of Townes Van Zandt. Moving away from the lo-fi intimacy of his debut album, OUTLANDER SESSIONS (released on New World of Sound in 2005), Cale is accompanied by an array of musicians. Though at times classically inspired, and at others roots-based, the instrumentation is always understated, providing a focus on lyric and melody. Fittingly, the singers voice has gracefully matured into the road-weary rasp that his story-based lyrics require. WALKING PAPERS exhibits a genuine craft of American tradition; the songs are bona fide gems with every note and lyrical phrase informed by a quiet beauty, both familiar and timeless." - All Hands Electric. “Zachary Cale is a songwriters songwriter, as prolific as he is original. His voice can be delicate for love or wry for satire. The ability to hear what is in a song has guided him well in the making of his own. While the influence of traditional American music is always present in his compositions, he is able to infuse something fresh and new to the form." - John Allen (WFMU).

Title: Music From Airports
Format: LP
Label: Feeding Tube
Country: USA
Price: $12.50
"Finally, we have some more Cosmetics. As you can see by the catalog number, weve been eagerly awaiting this one for a while. "Sleepwalking" is their best track to date, spooky and irresistible synth lines that make you bob your head until it rolls off. Im afraid this is all we get until their LP is ready to go, so take it in. CLEAR WAX!" - Captured Tracks.

Artist: CAMPBELL, NEIL
Title: Sol Powr
Format: CD
Label: Music Mundane
Country: UK
Price: $11.50
"A timely reissue of an LP that originally saw the light of day on vinyl, courtesy of the esteemed Finnish label Lal Lal Lal, some time toward the start of this millennium. Well, the 300 copies soon disappeared, Campbell and Lal Lal Lal moved on to further releases and everyone was happy. That is, all apart from those who missed out and had to trawl ebay and rare record lists if they wanted to hear what amounted to only the second Neil Campbell solo record, after 1997s "These premises are no longer bugged". Campbell is of course familiar from his recordings with Vibracathedral Orchestra, Sunroof!, Richard Youngs, The A Band and many more over the past two decades. His current project, Astral Social Club, goes from strength to strength, prompting Dusted magazine to call it "the purest expression of his art of the ecstatic on record". In many ways, "SOL POWR" is the logical precursor to Astral Social Club, with its heavy focus on keyboard-driven electronic pulse flotation - when it was originally released Julian Cope remarked that it "sounds as though Martin Rev had teamed up with Moebius and Roedelius, during their CLUSTER 2 period". This reissue, the first release on Campbells own Music Mundane label, supplements the original vinyl LP with three additional tracks from the same period. Two of them were originally released on a miniscule-edition 7" lathe-cut by Stavangers Gold Soundz Records, while the third was commissioned for download on Brian Lavelles online TechNOH label. They fit right in with the LPs original seven tracks, forming fifty of the most glorious minutes in Campbells not-inconsiderable discography. Edition of 500 in hard DVD style case."

Here, the duo of David Sutton (Friends and Family, Current Amnesia, Ladderwoe) and Daniel DiMaggio (Home Blitz) expand on the rock/mumble strategies from the self-released Jar 7” (Leaf Leaf, 2006) and a couple cassettes kicked around the New Jersey underpasses. Artist: CARTER, CHRISTINA
Title: Texas Blues Working
Format: Double LP
Label: Blackest Rainbow
Country: UK
Price: $22.00
"Quite simply one of my all time favorite releases on Blackest Rainbow from one of this generations most amazing artists gets the upgrade from cassette to double vinyl LP, featuring the original six tracks from the original release, along with an additional brand new amazing track. The original edition on tape received some fantastic reviews, so its great to finally have this out on vinyl, as it really is a superb recording, which came out around one of Christinas most amazingly active recording periods, self releasing fantastic discs like Masque Femine, Two Nights Film and A Blossom Fell as well as Kranky releasing Original Darkness in 2008. Texas Blues Working features six tracks of stunningly haunting guitar and vocals, creating an immensely deep and emotional listening experience. The previously unreleased track, the sublime 21 minute Ladyfriend, is another example of Christinas incredible voice and guitar playing. Her voice is just unreal, so deeply emotional and mournful it gives you goose bumps. Pressed on heavyweight virgin vinyl and housed in a gatefold sleeve featuring a series of black and white photographs by Joe Blanchard." $22.50 UPC: N/A PADANG FOOD TIGERS: Born Music LP (BRR 196LP). "Originally released on Blackest Rainbow in Autumn 2010 in an edition of only 100 copies, the vinyl edition of Padang Food Tigers debut full length LP sold out instantly. This second edition is pressed on 140g virgin vinyl with pro-printed cover art in an edition of only 250 copies... Memories playing tricks: oh, the gauzy hallucinogens of nostalgia are sloughing off fresh fictions throughout this deeply passionate instrumental collection. Padang Food Tigers attempt to resurrect half-remembered dreams on their debut long player, Born Music, by hybridizing improvisational tactics with the trappings of traditional tropes. Influenced by artists such as Scott Tuma, Taku Sugimoto, Loren Connors, Bruce Langhorne Boxhead Ensemble and Tetuzi Akiyama, the groups two members (Stephen Lewis and Spencer Grady) seek to capture the potency of moment, free from all artifice and studied consciousness, enveloped in the players close fraternal bond. The duration and form of tracks -- brimming with banjo, guitar, piano, music boxes and fragments of history -- are dictated by emotional weight, by intuition, not expectation. Born Music (a gesture to the dried river that flows at the back of Lewis home in South London and to the instinctive nature of the sounds contained within) is the duos follow-up to their Go Down, Moses EP, which was released on Under The Spire." -Blackest Rainbow

Artist: CEDERMARK, ANDREW
Title: Moon Deluxe
Format: LP
Label: Underwater Peoples
Country: USA
Price: $12.50
"Underwater Peoples Records is proud to present the debut LP, Moon Deluxe, from ANDREW CEDERMARK. Like an avalanche of foamy beer rolling through the mountains of Hokkaido, Moon Deluxe traps you in a cabin. Penned with friends and strangers alike, the shrill sound of natural destruction soundtrack the conversation. Mr. Cedermark hails from Glen Rock, New Jersey. Moon Deluxe was recorded in Charlottesville, Virginia. 8.2 album review in Pitchfork." -Underwater Peoples

Artist: CHARALAMBIDES
Title: Branches
Format: CD
Label: Wholly Other
Country: USA
Price: $10.00
"A rare document of a brief arc in Charalambides 17 year (and counting) trajectory, somewhere between the extreme spatial attenuation of the long gone Crucial Blast CDR Being As Is and the gentle intergalactic trio sway of the kranky disk Unknown Spin- and quite distance from both the exclamatory exhalations of Joy Shapes and the layered songcraft of Likeness. These are spartan duets of formalistic near-symmetry, a reminder that there was a time when Charalambides swung as close to the axis of Incus and FMP as to that of Takoma and ESP. Christina (voice) and Tom Carter (guitar) improvise non-textual melodic lines around an locus of mirror clarity, occasionally overlapping various strands using two DAT machines and a mixing board, in a nod to the pre ProTools digital scrap heap. Originally issued as a Peter King lathe cut LP on Eclipse Records in an edition of 100 in 2000, the reissue of this extreme rarity is remastered from a superior source for maximum clarity. Inkblot artwork courtesy of Heather Leigh Murray. The whole package is dedicated to Bruce Connor (R.I.P.). The reissue at hand is an edition of 500, with fold-over printed sleeves in the style of Electricity Ghosts."-Wholly Other

Title: Our Bed is Green
Format: Double LP
Label: Time Lag
Country: USA
Price: $26.00
"the debut release from texas favorite psychedelic voyagers, on vinyl for the first time ever. originally self released as an ultra-limited cassette way back in 1992, it was later reissued on the bands own wholly other imprint in a much edited form, only to go out of print again. here the original cassette track list and sequence is restored, minus too covers songs. a historic milestone in the story of the contemporary underground, as well as an extremely mind-melting dose of outsider drone/folk/psych in its own right. the duo of tom & christina carter here managed to wrap their fingers and minds around a whole slew of sonic vibrations, while at the same time clearly charting their own low-key and unique course. tapping into about every slant of damaged texas exploration, this massive recording flows through haunting lo-fi slow motion folk, full-blown, fuzzed-out spacerock, beautiful outsider acid psych, fizzing drone experimentation, loose blues forms and plenty of higher minded guitar improvisation, all with a certain shining wide-eyed bliss. and yes, chistinas voice was just as jaw dropping then as it is now... while worlds away from charalambides recent outings on one level, those sonic tendrils trace a clear line back to the sweet seeds planted here... pressed on two massive slabs of audiophile 180 gram vinyl, and packaged in a beautiful silver & clear ink letterpressed tri-fold cover, on heavy olive green art paper, with extensive notes by tom carter. hand numbered edition of 800 copies." - Time-Lag.

Title: Rose/Thorn
Format: 15.50
Label: Klang Industries
Country: USA
Price: $15.50
"Long-, long-, long-, loooooong-awaited and singular entry in the Charalambides and Klang Industries discographies; one of those does it really exist? items thats finally seeing daylight, or moonlight. A stark, unsettling and beautiful slice of duo Charlambides invocation/incantation, taken from the period between Jason Bill and Heather Leigh Murrays tenures with the band and featuring extraordinary chord organ and vocal work from Christina and some signature lap steel mastery from Tom. Fans of the bands most recent, more song-based work will find this relevatory, long-time listeners will say ahhhh and settle in for the flight. Heavy vinyl, limited pressing, cover handiwork by Tom, the first release in years from Klang and a sign perhaps of a truly epic revival." "Long-awaited Klang debut of Charalambides. This record has been brewing since 2000, and is now finally available under the auspices of Eclipse/Klang. Two side-long improvisations in much the same vein as IN CR EA SE, a bit more topographical perhaps, but still horizontally serene and horizonless. Chord organ, lap steel, vocals." --Wholly Other.

Artist: CHILDREN HOSPITAL
Title: Alone Together
Format: LP
Label: Sacred Bones
Country: USA
Price: $11.00
"Alone Together is the debut release from Childrens Hospital. If their despondent sounds remind you of something you may have once heard its because this is the latest project from the A-Frames/Intelligence/Rodent Plague/afcgt axis. Reminiscent of the brooding and gray skyline of their hometown of Seattle the duo hover between abstract soundscape compositions, Jandek inspired bouts of melancholy droned out dementia, and stripped apart abrasive punk...often combining several of these forms at once. If recent Rodent Plague releases on Killshaman and Jerkave Tapes are any indication it would be ill-advised to sleep on Childrens Hospital. " - Sacred Bones.

Country: USA

Artist: CIRCLE X
Title: s/t
Format: 12"
Label: Insolito
Country: Germany
Price: $15.00
"Formed 1978 in New York, Circle X was born out of the ashes of No Fun and the I-Holes as Louisvilles first punk rock band. Once the lineup of Circle X solidified, the formerly-punk band lunged headfirst into weirder, artier territory. Whether the big citys burgeoning No Wave scene influenced Circle X or they influenced the scene is unclear; what is clear, though, is that Circle X was the most unique, most mysterious, and most un-heralded band hailing from that place and time. In France for nine months with new manager Bernard Zekri, Circle X toured from their base in Dijon, garnering strong press and stronger public reaction while writing new material as they went. An untitled four-song EP saw the light of day in 1979. That untitled 12-inch debut was practically without antecedent. Its a lurching, squalling monster. Identified only by a symbol on the cover (a spray-painted circle with an "X" through it; the spelled-out name first appeared in 83), it pits Pinottis screeched vocals against Witsiepe and the Letendres bass-less, barely contained distorto-blare. The hatred and rage on this thing is palpable and when it coalesces perfectly with the music, as it does on the lead track, Tender, its pretty damn effective. Nothing sounded like this in 1979. They arrived in New York at the tail end of No Wave, at the same time that equally ornery bands like Swans and Sonic Youth were getting revved up. Circle X are every bit as distinctive and attitudinal as Throbbing Gristle, PiL, Theoretical Girls, DNA, or Mars, yet they dont much sound like any of them. We proudly represent this masterpiece after thirty years again for the public. It has lost none of its intensity and rage. 180 gram vinyl in tip-on jackets that bear the original artwork and poly lined black inner sleeve plus liner notes." - Insolito.

Title: Silent Blood
Format: CDR
Label: Pseudoarcana
Country: New Zealand
Price: $9.50
"New Full length from Armpits CJA. Even though a recurring theme throughout is a reflection upon the amount of time spent on his PC (the same analogue sound as ever, but the use of digital layering tech adds extra depths to the hum) this disk still has that wonderful lofi droniness, and CJA is as resolutely himself as ever. Includes an epic that threatens to rival the incredible headache. Degradation can be a beautiful thing." - Pseudoarcana.

Artist: CLARK, TODD TAMANEND
Title: Nova Psychedelia (1975-85)
Format: Double CD
Label: Anopheles
Country: USA
Price: $14.25
"Outside of his native Pennsylvania-West Virginia stomping grounds, Todd Tamanend Clark remains one of the least known North American underground artists in the lost music DIY field of his era, considering he has collaborated with and shared time with many of his peers over the years (Cheetah Chrome, Allen Ravenstine, Stiv Bators), as well as progenitors (Dorothy Moskowitz of United States of America, Robert Moog, William Burroughs), his significant body of recorded (and printed) work was always made in small runs and has remained elusive and highly collectible to this day. This 2CD set collects all of his released vinyl recordings from 1975-1985, including those issued as The Stars (1975 45 rpm and eight-track cartridge material), The Eyes ( New Gods: Aardvark Thru Zymurgy LP from 1977), Todd Clark Group ( Were Not Safe! LP from 79), and Todd Clark ( Into the Vision LP from 84, plus two 45s released in the first half of the 80s). He has since appended his name to reflect his Native American roots. This document features a 20 page booklet, with Todds own personal history included, with notes on each track (all 33 of em, total time for this set is over 150 minutes of music), and a host of great photos and artwork. His muse may remain a mystery after you experience this wide range of sounds, which might very well be Anopheles Records most ambitious and out there release to date, but he leaves tangible clues and some out and out hooks with which to grab onto: great reworkings of Hungry (Paul Revere and the Raiders) and I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night (Electric Prunes), his bizarre slo-mo take on Two Thousand Light Years From Home (from his debut 45 from 75) are some points of reference, but its when Todd cuts loose on original material that his truly mesmerizing, bent vision takes hold of your cranium and refuses to let go. His personal magnetosphere is quite intoxicating, often challenging, and just plain hallucinatory. Thats Nova Psychedelia ..." - Anopheles

Artist: CLINE, NELS/CARLOS GIFFONI/LEE RANLDO/ALAN LICHT
Title: Nothing Makes Any Sense
Format: CD
Label: No Fun
Country: USA
Price: $8.50
"A constantly shifting and engaging long-form piece of developed drone, foreboding melody, and harsh grit, Nothing Makes Any Sense finds Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Nels Cline (Nels Cline Singers, Wilco), and Alan Licht pushing their guitars into a cacophonous state that bears much influence from the post-jazz fields theyve all cut their teeth in, but also bearing down a forceful brutality that has sometimes eluded their past material. While Carlos Giffoni uses his analog Synth mastery to adequately contend and mesh seamlessly with the trio of strings, letting his analog noise pulsate and pierce with its own sense of contained stampede. This collaboration was recorded in February of this year at the sadly-defunct NYC venue Tonic and was mixed and mastered by the ubiquitous James Plotkin. Included with the packaging are ink drawings from Lee Ranaldo and a review of Lou Reeds live classic Rock N Roll Animal by cult musician/Creem scribe Peter Laughner, which includes a line which bestowed this album with its title." - No Fun.

Label: Amen Absen
Country: USA
Price: $13.50
"Delight in the Stream is the first solo vinyl outing for John Clyde-Evans (aka Tirath Singh Nirmala) in close to a decade. Recorded during a year-long stay in India, the album seamlessly weaves together an array of piercing bowed objects, flutes and voice with electronic and audio embellishments over the course of three extended tracks. The scattering of sounds swirl around to disorienting effect yet still manage to mesmerize as the music draws itself out. Pressed in a limited edition of 300 copies." - Amen Absen

Artist: COACH FINGERS
Title: One Jack Shy Of A Cycle
Format: LP
Label: Black Dirt
Country: USA
Price: $14.50
"There is a fine line between illumination and obscuration when one is attempting to interpret the meaning of a song cycle. Is the narrator singing from experience or is there an embodiment of characters, real or imagined, happening? When listening to the new record by Coach Fingers from beginning to end, a story is not necessarily being told in a straight narrative form, but perhaps taking a cue from a literary background, One Jack Shy of a Cycle can be perceived as a metafiction in song form. Who is the fool with the unsteady hands? What poor soul has found his demise at the barrel end of Jacks rifle? Along what shoreline is the tortured couple from Things Get Stranger travelling? Why is a bullfrog singing about happiness and doubt? Who is having such trouble sleeping on Side 2, and why? Are there literally turkeys falling out of the trees as the dawn breaks to end the record? Recurring themes of failed relationships, misunderstandings, anxiety and passing are woven throughout this rock and roll record as easily as they would be in a collection of short stories. Like images flickering through a shadow play screen, Coach Fingers has drawn upon the talents of the community of musicians surrounding Black Dirt Studio, to project the visage of a band upon the collection of tales captured on these sides. And in the process has conjured the aural equivalent of metempsychosis, passing life stories through song into the grooves of vinyl." - Black Dirt. Edition of 500. Recorded at Black Dirt Studio Westtown, NY. Mastered by Carl Saff Chicago, IL. 140g vinyl pressed at Brooklyn Phono Brooklyn. NY. Covers silk screened by VGKids Ypsilanti, MI.

Artist: CODY, TURNER
Title: The Great Migration / Quarter Century
Format: LP
Label: Mad Monk
Country: USA
Price: $11.00
"Turner has been kicking around the NYC folk scene for quite a few years now, but this is, perhaps inexplicably, his first foray onto wax. While most singer / songwriters these days seem to draw most of their water from Iron and Wine via Pavement and back again, Turner sounds like he began his musical education listening to Gershwin player piano rolls and quit buying records somewhere around the time Dylan brought it all back home. Lyrically, Turner can turn a phrase with the best of em, and the gloriously ramshackle accompaniment is Mungo Jerry meets Herman Dune sharing a squat in Tin Pan Alley. This LP combines two of Turners self-released CDs, and is as good an introduction to his wonderful music as any. Heres what Jeweled Antler head honcho Glenn Donaldson sez about Turner: "Cody is pre-war, Old Testament & A Confederate General from Big Sur." Err°≠nuff said, no?"" - Mad Monk.

Title: The Invasion of Thunderbolt Pagoda
Format: DVD
Label: Boo-Hooray
Country: USA
Price: $14.50
"Ira Cohen s 1968 film The Invasion of Thunderbolt Pagoda is brought to you by Boo-Hooray as a fully restored directors cut DVD. Edition of 500 copies. High-quality transfer from the original 16mm film, with color correction supervised by the director (22 min) with soundtrack remastered by Tim Barnes, featuring The Universal Mutant Repertory Company (Loren Standlee, Ziska Baum, Angus MacLise, Hetty MacLise, Raja Samayana, Tony Conrad, Henry Flynt and Jackson MacLow). DVD features “From The Mylar Chamber,” an original slideshow of 60 mylar photographs with soundtrack by Angus MacLise and original poetry by Ira Cohen. J. Hoberman in the Mar. 16, 2006 Village Voice: “Part Dr. Strange, part Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome, [The Invasion of Thunderbolt Pagoda is] so High 60s that you emerge from its 20-minute vision perched full-lotus on a cloud of incense, chatting with a white rabbit and smoking a banana…. Invasion is a languidly opiated costume ball in which an assortment of masked and painted bohos, some sporting outsize elf ears, loll about a candlelit, Mylar-lined set, blowing soap bubbles and nibbling majoon. …In lieu of action, Cohen uses all manner of superimposition and prismatic image-splitting; his big effect, however, is the deliquescent Mylar reflection. What saves Invasion from preciosity is the vague menace of Angus MacLises improvised pan-piping, tabla-tapping, creature-yipping score. Although this masterpiece of Tibetan-Moroccan-Druidic trance music was reissued on CD several years ago, it truly blossoms in conjunction with the exotic smorgasbord served at Cohens psychedelicatessen.” - Boo-Hooray.

"As the frontman for the already prolific Fresh & Onlys, it seems impossible that theres yet even more songs coming from the well of Mr. Cohen. More surprising is that they maintain a high standard of quality. "The Two Sides of Tim Cohen" LP came and went in the blink of an eye. Recorded after his stint in Black Fiction and before his current set-up in the Fresh & Onlys, "Two Sides.." was a fresh dose of pure outsider pop with drum machines and keyboards. For a follow up, "Laugh Tracks" finds Tim in a more fleshed out full-bodied approach, complete with horn arrangements. These are personal songs from a highly gifted songwriter and were happy to make them available. Tim does his own art for all of his solo material, you can find more on: http://www.timcohen.com" - Captured Tracks.

Title: Dead Excitement
Format: 7"
Label: Bunkerpop
Country: USA
Price: $5.00
"Reissue of Dutch post-punk band Coitus Int.s debut 7" from 1980. Five completely unique, totally overlooked and underrated tracks from a band who would later develop a darker, slower sound throughout throughout 1980s. We love this record and think that you might too." - Bunkerpop.

Artist: COLD CAVE
Title: Cremations
Format: LP
Label: Hospital Productions
Country: USA
Price: $12.50
"Cremations is a collection of early demo/live/and unreleased tracks from Cold Cave. From the projects isolated beginnings to the recent full band line-up the development of this singular musical entity is documented here in its icy electronic glory. From Cold Caves infancy sexual identity and oblique existentialism have been expressed through biting lyrics and electronic minimalism. Rarely has the human condition been exposed so brazenly as in "Sex Ads". Melodies, noise and rhythms clash as stories from below the surface are retold. From the demo LP Coma Potion, which featured a rugged stripped down distortion, to the suggestive Electronic Dreams tour cassette (featuring the voice of Max Morton on the track "Heavenly Metals"). Cold Cave has developed its own brand of genre defying electronic music, without ever betraying its dark roots. Love and pornography, Industrial music and traditionalism, poetry and profanity all mix together in a hedonistic, cocktail of nihilistic nights and mournful mornings. Cremations collects all this work for the first and last time." - Hospital Productions. First pressing still available.

Artist: CONCERN
Title: Caesarean
Format: LP
Label: Arbor
Country: USA
Price: $10.50
"As Concern, Gordon Ashworth has explored drone music through an inspection of the textural components of acoustic instruments and recording processes. On CŰ䳳arean the palette presented is a singularly precise one. Using simple sources (piano, clarinet, banjo, shrutti box, and acoustic guitar), tape processing (1/4°± and cassette), and reverberation, Ashworth crafts delicate tape music through transforming repetitions and obscured fidelity. The emotional and physical presence of CŰ䳳arean is overwhelming; sounding simultaneously natural and alien. The instrumentation and field recordings are both stripped of their defining characteristics; creating a balance between the harmonic characters of both, a pure transformation empty of excess and desire. Time held in suspension. Released on compact disc by Slow Flow (Japan). In an edition of 500 copies with black and white reverse board jackets and printed labels. " - Arbor.

Artist: CRANK STURGEON/GASTRIC FEMALE REFLEX
Title: Split
Format: 7"
Label: Gold Soundz/Bennifer Editions
Country: Norway/Canada
Price: $4.00
"On one side, Torontosaurs Gastric Female Reflex expose their vulnerable underbellies by offering the world the gift of song, as transmitted through the cackle of thirty meter bronze age jump ropes, and then swatted with limitless spools of tape culled from businessmens faulty tape recorders. The flipside is deepwoods Maine-based Crank Sturgeon, taking a similar story and running it into the side of a convent full of shark-eating nuns. Setting loose the angry hornets, these ladies of the lord respond with high powered leaf blowers, stopping now and again to play a little violin and pee into their dixie cups. Not your typical avant "electro-acoustic" record, both projects assure this baby can dance like a school of fish, drunk on mercury and TAB cola perhaps, but to an effect that is glorious and spacious; snakey and experimental as all hairy heck, yet an electro-doot we can all blorp and weeze and get primitive with." - Crank Sturgeon.

"Crystal Stilts started in Brooklyn in 2003 as Brad Hargett and JB Townsend. Not really trying to be a "band" they recorded and self-released their single "Shattered Shine" on their Feathery Tongue label in 04 with friend Sean Mafucci (producer of Gang Gang Dance, Psychic Ills, Kid Congo Powers etc.) With no shortage of lazy Jesus and Mary Chain and Factory records comparisons, (more like VU, Felt, and Blue Orchids) in 2005-06 they continued to play in New York with bands such as the Long Blondes, 1990s and The Monochrome Set and recorded a 4 song ep. Kyle Forrester (Ladybug Transistor etc. etc.) joined them at gigs playing organ as well. After a brief hiatus to record there back catalogue for upcoming LP (Slumberland) they adopted Andy Adler (who played bass on Eric Copeland of Black Dice fuzzpop outfit Ninjas) to rock the bass. After opening for the Clean in November, Frankie Rose (Vivian Girls) waltzed into their life to play the stand-up drums and complete the equation. CD compiles their 12" ep and the "Shattered Shine" 7inch."- Woodsist

"The 2nd 7" from mid 93 with new vocalist Andre Richardson. This Dunedin super group features some of the key names involved with the Southern Island music scene.
