Artist: GALBRAITH, ALASTAIR
Title: Orb
Format: CD
Label: Nextbestway
Country: New Zealand
Price: $11.00
"not since 2000s CRY has alastair galbraith delivered an album of song-based material. here are 20 new tracks, all hiss and bones raw hurt and high wonder. familiar backwards folk "here not there", barely-there ballad-fragments "one direction","tumbling" ,"homesick" "Short Dream For Fire Organ" where alastairs home-made gas-powered instrument booms away in a tunnel (pictured on the back cover) while disembodied whisperers come and go with you trapped down there under a bad drug "cut" a very short track of what sounds like 3 frogs 2 locusts and several clockwork motors recorded in a pigskin bladder. "Head Down" a hypnotic lullaby with swelling rolls of delayed guitar and tidal washes of vocals. "Cloth Master" which punches you repeatedly, while screaming in your face favourites would have to include the rock-bottom alt-country resignation of "something happened" and the mirror-imaged "your lilt" which ends with you waltzing with a skating cello round heaven." - Nextbestway.

Artist: GANG GANG DANCE
Title: Gang Gang Dance
Format: LP
Label: Fusetron
Country: USA
Price: $10.00
"Gang Gang Dance are a group composed of well-known entities (in and around NYC in particular) but have left a sporadic, almost shadowy, impression upon people nonetheless. ŰḖarious members play/have played in various other bands. ŰḔheyll surface to play a clutch of shows, most all well-attended, only to disappear again (as regards to any kind of reliable congregation). Űḏh, and theres also been no record to speak of, save a 100-copy CD, more or less fleetingly manifested for an art event with probably somewhere that amount of attendees. Anyways, now we have a document, albeit LP only, and thankfully definitely a good one. The opening female vocal ululations soon enough refract electronically, and the summoned whalesong dimension spires into an urgent metempsychotic groove. Űḃoming as they do from different angles, its safe to assume there is humanity to the postproduction approach on here. Űḉndeed the first side in its totality achieves a narrative facility which, when sized up against the nature of its parts, could remind one of a more quietly-alloyed Chrome. It does not end there, in fact there is something of a sense of unfinished business, and the second side strikes off with a snapping dream of desert suspense. Űḍachinic industry rises up here too though, marking yet another salient entre into the crafted spuriousness GGD seek to espouse. Űḁn open drone fills for much of the half, accumulating a lyric denouement that possesses overtures toward melody and texture but less toward propulsive mien. ŰḠŰḁgain, and as always with this outfit, not so fast, especially in assuming the accumulation will not build anew, and fairly dramatically, before the end. And it is when it in fact does that sadly deceased member Nathan Maddox joins the fray most obviously, his vox working up the Can-like lather along with the suddenly more brash (especially after the subdued interlude) compatriots, everything spiking up to the sendoff digitized muezzin wail." - Dan Hougland; Other Music.

Artist: GANGLIANS
Title: Blood On The Sand
Format: 7"
Label: Captured Tracks
Country: USA
Price: $4.25
"If you liked the 12" EP and LP by these Sacramento weird-poppers, then youll love this, their first non-split 7". Two equally amazing tracks, and in our opinion, two of their best." - Captured Tracks.

Artist: GARDENS
Title: Upside/Downside
Format: 7"
Label: Just For The Hell Of It
Country: USA
Price: $4.75
"A limited one time pressing of 500 copies. New Detroits Gardens, on their second 7", a true in all forms double A side. "Upside/Downside" features the live set staples "Alive in 5-D" being the upside and "Maze Time" on the downside. Gardens features Jeffery Thomas. a constant fixture in the Detroit underground for the past 10 years or so, maybe best known for his basement electronics project Genders." -Just For The Hell Of It

Artist: GARY WAR
Title: Zontag
Format: 7''
Label: Sacred Bones
Country: USA
Price: $4.00
"Sacred Bones presents the followup release to last year?s New Raytheonport full-length LP on Shdwply Records. Gary War?s keyboard and tape manipulations exist in the loner sphere somewhere between the Legendary Pink Dots? keyboard driven take on UK psychedelia and current fellow travelers like the Pink Noise. Like the LPD or Ariel Pink (to whom he?s garnered comparisons since the debut LP release) the odd experimental arrangements and off-kilter instrumentation never stray very far from melancholy pop song structures rooted around a catchy hook and melody." -Sacred Bones

Artist: GAUNTLET HAIR
Title: Out...Dont
Format: 7"
Label: Mexican Summer
Country: USA
Price: $3.75
Hand-numbered edition of 500 copies. "The duo of Andy R. and Craig Nice makes up Denver, COs Gauntlet Hair, but the gravity of the situation they create goes deeper than that. Both men are part of the Rhinoceropolis house in the city, and have sparked a musical movement thats already gotten some dap via electronic artist Pictureplane. Gauntlet Hair divides the dance beats with an icy spell of post-punk and chilly, urbane vocals, but keep the rhythm up front and the aural violence at tense levels. Imagine the gorgeous gents of Duran Duran dressing up as Liars and showing up to the beardo mountain Brooklyn commune to pants the guys in Yeasayer, and youre a bit on course to defining the heavy space hits and body-moving apocalypse grooves they dumpster-dine on every night. Pressed on beautiful translucent yellow vinyl. 500 pressed" -Mexican Summer.

Artist: GERMAN MEASLES
Title: Wild
Format: 12"
Label: Captured Tracks
Country: USA
Price: $8.50
"Out of control, drugged up, fucked up madness from Brooklyns premiere party freaks. Almost the polar opposite of this springs cassette release - these songs are confident, insane and beautifully recorded by Gary Olson. Some sort of funky mix of The Soup Dragons, Black Randy, Protex and The Fall had they recorded for Bhudda. All the subtlety of Sonny Bono trying to barge his way into a restaurant while wearing a fur vest. Features 2/4ths of the legendary Cause Co-Motion!" - Captured Tracks.

Artist: GIANT SKYFLOWER BAND
Title: Blood of the Sunworm
Format: CD
Label: Soft Abuse
Country: USA
Price: $9.75
"During a sabbatical from regular duties in THE SKYGREEN LEOPARDS, GLENN DONADLSON (never one to rest) dreamt of GIANT SKYFLOWER BAND, an exotic, flowery and crumbling new recording project with nods to fruity new age, psych, prog, folk, and pop songwriting. Donaldson quickly invited multi-instrumentalist SHAYDE SARTIN "smoke marijuana & make up strange pop songs," and thus the band was born. With Gongs seminal "Magick Brother" as a starting point and a sitar close at hand, the duo created a dark, peregrine pop transmission from their shoddy analog recording studio in San Francisco. The duos debut offering examines in detail the idiom of Bummer Psych; the strain of damaged Anglo-pop music pioneered by Syd Barrett that arguably reached its apex with The Television Personalities Painted Word LP in the mid-80s." - Soft Abuse.

Artist: GIFFONI, CARLOS
Title: Adult Life
Format: CD
Label: No Fun
Country: USA
Price: $8.50
"This is shining and pure electronic music. Adult Life continues Carlos Giffonis work in slow-building drones but he also imbues these new compositions with subtle structure, melodic sequences and blind-siding rhythmic pulses which recall the many pioneers of electronic composition, among them Cluster, Brian Eno, Kraftwerk, and Tangerine Dream. The caustic melding of foreboding abstraction and lively pulse raises Adult Life to a paradigm of the breathing and the immaculate, a strange set of dichotomies finding a shocking common ground. Original Illustrations for this full length by Megan Ellis." -No Fun

Artist: GIFFONI, CARLOS
Title: Arrogance
Format: CD
Label: No Fun
Country: USA
Price: $8.30
"Five chapters of sound inspired by one of the most powerful and complex emotions of humankind. Arrogance is a departure from the digital machine insanity of his previous full length release, Welcome Home (Important Records), for a world of total analog electronics, primal energy, walls of monumental sound and precise attention to layers ? creating massive slowly evolving structures that are both beautiful and terrifying. Arrogance is the first CD release on the No Fun Productions label. Recorded live with no overdubs in Brooklyn during a 12 month period by Carlos Giffoni and mastered by James Plotkin. Cover artwork by award winning artist/designer Megan Ellis. Carlos Giffoni is a musician, composer, inventor, improviser, teacher, curator and programmer. Born in Venezuela but living in New York now for over 6 years, he has been releasing music since 1998 including live collaborations and recordings with Merzbow, Jim ORourke, Pita, Thurston Moore, Lee Ranaldo, John Duncan, Z. Karkowski, Chris Corsano, Mike Conelly, Nels Cline, Prurient, Fe-Mail and many others. He is also a member of Death Unit, Monotract and Old Bombs, and the curator of No Fun Fest, the most influential, diverse and extreme experimental music festival in the US." - No Fun.

Artist: GIFFONI, CARLOS
Title: The Absence of Essence
Format: Double 7"
Label: Arbor
Country: USA
Price: $9.50
"Carlos Giffonis heavy synthesizer work recalls the crushing, massiveness of early industrial music. Completely consuming the air around it with heavy vibrations and total deprivation. These four tracks rip holes through the sonic barriers, loud and powerful but with entrancing subtleties and discreet builds. The nature of the 7" format does not harm Giffonis work which normally exists in extended lengths; instead very succinct and unwavering compositions result: creating four vignettes of grey industrial zones. As the person responsible for No Fun Productions and the No Fun Fest, this Brooklyn transplants presence in the current progression of the genre is undeniable. In an edition of 400 2x7"(one on white vinyl and one on black) sets in gatefold sleeves with art by Maya Miller of Heavy Tapes/Religious Knives." -Arbor

Artist: GIFFONI, CARLOS/AARON DILLOWAY
Title: Live At No Fun Fest 2007
Format: LP
Label: No Fun
Country: USA
Price: $12.25
"limited to 350. Split Lp. Full no fun 2007 live sets, from Giffoni and Dilloway recorded to the best possible quality.Total tape mangling, and Analog Synth destruction." - No Fun.

Artist: GIFFONI, CARLOS/PRURIENT
Title: Heavy Rain Returns
Format: CD
Label: Ideal
Country: Sweden
Price: $8.75
"Heavy Rain Returns" is a truly monumental album. Recorded in Bushwick, New York City - its an intense trip into harsh noise and electronic sickness. Carlos Giffoni is maybe best known for his great "Welcome Home" record for Important and his curator skills are infamous through his No Fun Fest in Brooklyn which is the worlds most extreme music festival. Prurient is Dominick Fernow who is operating the Hospital Productions label and shop out of a basement in New York. His albums "Black Vase" and the latest "Pleasure Ground" for Load Records are both highly recommended and loved. Here we hear two of the US-noise scenes absolutely most important creators together - and man, its pure energy hitting you hard. Most copies are in the US so hurry to get your copy. The noise is ON!" - Ideal.

Artist: GIFFONI, CARLOS/THE RITA
Title: Two On A Match
Format: Double LP
Label: No Fun
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
"The ongoing study and execution of harsh noise by driven artists constantly reinstates the medium via different techniques, concepts, and different artist amalgamations for a collaborative work. For myself, working with the different warbling and generative moving lines of modular synth from Carlos Giffoni offered me a chance to investigate many different spaces of tone and line manipulation. The examination and crossing of the different LINES slowly become their own parallel entity as the adjoined and wavy synth lines are further dirtied, cut repeatedly, and joined with the knife of gated and cutting HN pedal work.To further manipulate and display the different lines and HN stylizations, Giffoni had the opportunity to heavily edit the textural work of THE RITA to exude the constantly moving and jutting sense of Giffonis own pulsing and driving synth decay via the dirtied analog source material of THE RITA. Modular synth and pedal work have been long standing tools in the world of harsh noise, but not often are they crossed over with such investigative and crackling tendencies – a virtual criss-crossing of the different technical lines. - Sam McKinlay(THE RITA) . Limited to 300 copies.

Artist: GIRLS NAMES
Title: Dont Let Me In
Format: 12"
Label: Captured Tracks
Country: USA
Price: $8.50
"Formed in January 2009 with their first gig booked before even playing together, Belfasts Girls Names unabashedly hark back to the early/mid eighties shadow world of Beat Happening, Black Tambourine, Felt, C86 and the Sound of Young Scotland. In their short existence they have quickly honed their craft in creating their own self-styled “disposable noise pop”, masking subdued bittersweet vocals and melodic hooks with reverb drenched guitars and Mary Chain primal drums. Having sold out of their debut home taped demos on Cass/Flick (Belfast) last summer and after a string of support slots with the likes of Sic Alps, Wavves, Times New Viking, Lovvers and Gary War, Girls Names are set for their first release proper, with a 12" EP on Brooklyn’s much talked about Captured Tracks label and a full UK tour with label buddies, La La Vasquez in the spring." - Captured Tracks.

Artist: GLORY FCKN SUN
Title: Spectra
Format: LP
Label: Tipped Bowler
Country: USA
Price: $13.25
"The sky done clouded over after Glory Fckn Suns debut album, yielding this brooding and corrosive follow-up. The New Zealand sorta-super group of Antony Milton , Ben Spiers, and Simon ORorke concoct a slow-burning behemoth of metallic shivers and distortion churn, dark enough to invoke the dread name Haino. Spectra is an unsettling mind-meld: Spiers desolate soundscapes bleed into Miltons heavy drones, which are complemented perfectly by ORorkes restless percussion. Group improvisation is the natural language of these three; even listing their solo and collaborative albums over the past decade would take way more effort than I can muster. Suffice to say this is a stellar and unique record to add to their massive discographies. In an edition of 300 red 160 gm. vinyl records, housed in silk-screened, heavy-gauge recycled stock jackets." - Tipped Bowler

Artist: GOLIATH BIRD EATER / SASQROTCH
Title: Split
Format: 10"
Label: Not Not Fun
Country: USA
Price: $10.00
"Document of 2 of L.A.s more esoteric basement metal crews. GBE is a one-note highway to hell, with Eagle Rock expat Nels Cline stepping in to rip an absurd guitar solo. Sasqrotch go for a scummier and rawer approach, amp haze, low-end lurking, and hairy drums. Hand-numbered edition of 400." - Not Not Fun

Artist: GOOD ANNA
Title: Full Of Beans
Format: CDR
Label: Sharks & Pfennigs
Country: UK
Price: $5.75
"The Good Anna are Patrick Farmer and Graham Jones. Based in Nottingham, the duo has been performing everywhere lately, from late-night improv blowouts in the Midlands to North America (where they are embarking on a lengthy tour this summer). Instrumentally focused around Jones guitar and Farmers percussion, Full of Beans explores space both acoustic and physical, moving from quietly bowed ringing tones to spastic, clattering explosions." - Sharks & Pfennigs.

Artist: GOOD LOOKING COMMUNISTS
Title: S/T
Format: LP
Label: Tochnit Aleph
Country: Germany
Price: $11.50
"TOCHNIT ALEPH PUNK SERIES VOLUME THREE. Recorded between 1999 & 2001. Short ugly noise howls to voice-aktion to hilarious bonkers cut-up frenzy. Pretty tight ugly yuck. Performed & mixed by Raionbashi, with additional/source material by Maoist Punk Squad, Sudden Infant (Lanz & LŰ㲷enbr®πck), N.O.G., Crank Sturgeon & Arsedestroyer. Second edition of 150, hand-made cover with plaster, safety-pin and beer-bottle cap attached." - Tonicht Aleph.

Artist: GORDY HORN
Title: The Glue That Holds The Kids Together
Format: One Sided LP
Label: What The...?
Country: USA
Price: $10.50
"Vinyl debut of long-running Cincinnati Ohio/Northern Kentucky improv unit circling the center of saxophone/electronics Tim Schwallie (of The Wolverton Brothers) and doublebass/electronics Scott Hisey. Over many many many many years the core remain the same with various collaborators and members walking in and stepping or falling out, but the core remain the same, as they stepped in and fell out of modes such as free improv, free funk, free song, as evidenced in these on record. And included on record is a highly-picked sample of highlights from Gordy line-ups, including involving Clayton "Chicken" Gunnels (RIP, of the JBs, "America Eats Its Young"-adelic), Mark Perry (Heevahava), C. Spencer Yeh (Burning Star Core) and names here. "So Mark Perry discovered Clayton wandering Covington streets. Clayton was too well-dressed to be just another homeless dude as Mark put it... Mark started a dialogue which turned into sporadic jams with Clayton, then Mark decided that Gordy Horn get-togethers were the best formats for Clayton and you know the rest... Do you know karate? Tara was a singer with a very sloppy and very loud noise jam thing in the early nineties that I liked a lot--in particular I liked this pretty quiet small young girl that would transform into a screaming banshee on stage... We talked and then they moved to LA; her boyfriend oded, she moved back, and we started talking again. Scott and I were in a collaborative mood. We met up with Aimee who was willing to bring her harp around, and Gordy was a four-piece for 8 months or so around June to Dec 1999... The quartet with Spencer and Adam was really the go-to quartet for a while there (2003-2006) and I am glad we got one of those jams on the record." - Tim Schwallie, Spring 2010, Cincinnati Ohio. One-sided LP with silkscreen cover designed by artist Paul Coors. 130 copies limit." - What The..?

Artist: GRAHAM, ANDREW & SWARMING BRANCH
Title: Andrew Grahams Good Word
Format: LP
Label: Mexican Summer
Country: USA
Price: $12.50
"ANDREW GRAHAMs first release since the dissolution of RTFO BANDWAGON, the elegantly primitive Columbus, OH folk band. While RTFO Bandwagon heavily reiterated the elements already present in Grahams guitar frameworks with the bass, drums, and even the vocal melodies, Swarming Branch takes a more delicate approach. Throughout Good Word, each instrument plays only one note at a time, freeing up space in the mix and ensuring that every note is intentional." - Mexican Summer.

Artist: GRASSHOPPER
Title: Calling All Creeps
Format: LP
Label: Prison Tatt
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"The first release on vinyl by the acclaimed Brooklyn duo. Spine-shuddering drones and subtle melody; improvised electronics and horns that sound through-composed, but arent. Nothing less than the Irrlicht of contemporary noise/electronics. This is a horrid dungeon, no question, but one where hope has not quite died, and pretty things, alluring demons in service to Jon Hassell or Miles Davis, occasionally flutter by the window bars." - Prison Tatt.

Artist: GROUPER
Title: Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill
Format: LP
Label: Grouper
Country: USA
Price: $12.50
Third pressing, regular printed jacket and insert. originally released on Type in 2008. "On Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill, Harris third full record as Grouper, a few meager shafts of light are finally allowed to penetrate the mix: A gently strumming acoustic guitar reappears regularly, and Harris words are, for the first time, occasionally discernible. These tiny hints of accessibility are just enough to deepen the musics essential mysteriousness, to make us feel tantalizingly close to Harris before shes gone again, the echoes of her breathy coo humming in our ear." -Pitchfork.

Artist: GROUPER/ROY MONTGOMERY
Title: Split
Format: CD
Label: Grouper
Country: USA
Price: $11.00
"Roys side is a live and different version of Fantasia on a Theme by Sandy Bull, originally released on the Drunken Fish box set, Harmony of the Spheres. Grouper side is some new songs and field recording." Limited CD issue of LP released early 2010 (pressed for Groupers recent tour of NZ/Aus/Japan).
