Artist: MAC BLACKOUT
Title: Dont Let Your Love Die
Format: 7"
Label: Sacred Bones
Country: USA
Price: $3.75
"Sacred Bones presents a new solo single from ex-FUNCTIONAL BLACKOUTS and current DAILY VOID man MAC BLACKOUT that sounds that could have been made either in the year 1980 or 2980. "Dont Let Your Love Die" a driving synth driven tune that almost goes pop-albeit in a very Alexander Robotnik kind of way-sounds like it might as well have been recorded on an NES console. On the B-side "Sometimes" is a dirge like midtempo song that goes beyond the obvious comparisons to the Helios Creed/Damon Edge orbit and at times recalls Sacred Bones labelmate Gary War and even Macs other project, Daily Void." - Sacred Bones.

Title: Boss
Format: 12.00
Label: Arbitrary Signs
Country: USA
Price: $12.00
"When confronted with an example of magnificence in nature, such as a waterfall, Jane Goodall reported that the chimpanzees she observed were captivated, as if in awe of the beauty of the world. On BOSS, the Magik Markers have tried to capture the chimps awe. A formality and restraint the Markers have never exerted on their previously recorded material is present on BOSS. Now the Markers are Jainists, with their mouths masked so as to not inhale even one tiny insect, here pursuing the killer gentle with a vengeance. Recorded in the cavernous dark of Echo Canyon West, with producer Lee Ranaldo working the boards like a diviner, BOSS documents the Markers with a previously unheard fidelity and orchestration. Idiosyncratic song structure and melodies interspersed with a destructive drum stomp are reminiscent of the early electrified blues of Junior Kimbrough, or the black hole rhythms of Kousokuya. Mixing a gentle vulnerability with a winded egomania, the Markers have always had a musical tunnel vision; BOSS is that vision made manifest. The tug of war the Markers enact, the way they are fully prepared to start yanking their world apart as they find themselves losing their place in, makes moot possibilities of greatness or mediocrity. It makes them unapologetic soothsayers with their ears pressed to the ground, waiting for footsteps. With Peter Nolan, we finally hear what Lou Reed would have sounded like had he sallied with the drums instead of getting seduced by the easy praise of front man status. Like Rashid Ali squeezed into the Teutonic leather pants of Faust, Nolan drums like there are hell hounds at his heels but he just cant be bothered. Here both laconic and frenzied, Nolans drumming arms reach out like an octopus: tickling the ivories, humming the organ and blasting taps on some kind of endtime trumpet. As a pianist, Nolan reminds us that the piano is a percussive, beating out the whoomp of some old war dance, a bare foot-fall rhythm of fighters to battle and the heavy hands of a whiskey burlesque in the afternoon. Nolan is easy to underestimate, but finally, here is high fidelity record of the strange soul of one of Americas most natural and quizzical musical minds." -Ecstatic Peace. Vinyl issue of the EP CD. Small repress - handpainted jackets, insert, full color poster.

Artist: MAHER SHALAL HASH BAZ
Title: Live Aoiheya January 2003
Format: CD EP
Label: Chapter Music
Country: Australia
Price: $9.50
"Maher Shalal Hash Baz is the oddly-named band for Japanese cult figure Tori Kudo and his wife Reiko (the name is apparently a Hebrew biblical phrase that Tori translates as °∞be quick if you mean to steal something°±). Since the late 1970s, Tori has been a pioneering figure in Japanese punk, post-punk and avant-garde circles, beginning with bands such as GuysnDolls, Cock CNell, Noise and Tokyo Suicide (a cover band dedicated to New York synth-punk pioneers Suicide). Tori formed Maher Shalal Hash Baz in the mid 80s with neighbours who could not play any instruments, and for the better part of 20 years has been pursuing a single-minded vision of music as simple, spontaneous and unpredictable. The bands always changing lineup of anywhere from three to thirty people features mostly untrained musicians playing music often shown to them on the day of its performance, expressing the innate beauty of failure as much as of success. The band began releasing records in 1989, but did not come to worldwide attention until a decade later, when their marvelously ambitious triple album Return Visit To Rock Mass was released. MSHB were invited to tour outside of Japan for the first time. In 1999, when UK label Geographic released From A Summer To Another Summer, a compilation of Maher recordings. Soon the band were touring the US and Europe regularly, and Geographic released their most recent album Blues Du Jour in 2003. Live Aoiheya January 2003 documents an entire brief performance by this unique band, incidentally the first Maher show that Chapter boss Guy Blackman saw after moving to live in Japan in 2002 (he returned to Melbourne in 2004). It captures the band in a variety of guises unusual even for them, including an extended abstract instrumental, songs based on conversations between band members, passages by Japanese composers, vocal relays and a Brahms Waltz. In the EPs 26 minutes Maher Shalal Hash Baz manage to cover more ground than most bands do in their whole career, all the while maintaining a spirit and idiosyncracy that is idenitifiably their own." - Chapter Music.

Artist: MAINLINER
Title: Mainliner Sonic
Format: LP
Label: Assommer
Country: USA
Price: $15.50
"Psychedelic Solid Free Attack Group, Mainliner, were and will always be the worlds most powerful Speed-Freak psychedelic rock outfit. One of many concept groups containing both Nanjo Asahito(High Rise) and Kawabata Makoto(Acid Mothers Temple), Mainliner was a Psychedelic Power-Trio using 60s punk formula to create a solid foundation for "motor psycho" guitar-solo exploration, Ultra Cool echo vocals, and beyond free-jazz drum energy. Typical of Nanjos production, Mainliner is the quintessential blown-out Fuzz band, using crushing distortion across the entire mix, killing fidelity but greatly enhancing the intensity and liveness of the listening experience. Mainliner Sonic, the bands 3rd album, is the most sonically destroyed of all. Released on CD by Charnel in 1997, Assommer is proud to resurrect this long out of print noise relic onto 12" clear vinyl. Limited to 500 copies" - Assommer.

Artist: MANIACS DREAM
Title: Turku Hold em
Format: CD
Label: Lal Lal Lal
Country: Finland
Price: $13.00
"A 66 minute excerpt from a 2 hour session from 2005. Recorded in the middle of the night after christmas - the result being the most detailed mess this trio has ever made. Bella is banging the drums naked, releasing lots of skin power. Fricara is giving the bass some feedback and Hesedelic is playing guitar very, very fast." - Lal Lal Lal

Artist: MANIACS DREAM
Title: Zanzibar
Format: LP
Label: Arbor
Country: USA
Price: $10.00
"Finland is the epicenter of collective music-making. Under the name Maniacs Dream, members of a variety of Finnish bands such as Avarus, Fricara Pacchu, Kemialliset Yst䶤t, and more come together to create blown-out free rock (not your typical stoner guitar jams). Their unique/bizarre approach to music-making constantly questioning the construction/deconstruction of sound creates songs at times recalling the electro-acoustic clatter drone of Avarus crossed with tribal rhythms and intergalactic guitar zones. Total sonic freedom with a punk ethos directly influenced by a trip to Zanzibar prior to recording this record (which is a reissue of the long sold-out tape originally released on Lal Lal Lal in 2006). In an edition of 450 records on light blue vinyl with printed labels and full color pro-printed fold-over sleeves with art by Benjamin Bergman and an insert." - Arbor

Artist: MANTLES
Title: Pink Information
Format: LP
Label: Mexican Summer
Country: USA
Price: $17.00
"Incredible jangle-pop that conducts a druggy seance for the spirit of Gene Clark. A collectors dream, these San Francisco visionaries have released an incredible series of singles on Duc-I-Tone, Slumberland, and Slitbreeze. Shades of LA 66, New Zealand 82 and London 86 dance around each other in a delirious, druggy waking dream. Truly beautiful stuff." - Mexican Summer.

Artist: MARTIAL CANTEREL
Title: You Today
Format: LP
Label: Wierd
Country: USA
Price: $11.00
"Wierd Records is proud to present the new album by Martial Canterel entitled You Today. Since his first live performances in 2002, Sean McBride, aka Martial Canterel (who also performs as half of the duo Xeno & Oaklander), has produced a rich catalog of self-released and limited edition LPs, cassettes, and compilation tracks. The carefully crafted, private, raw, and often feverishly aggressive minimal synth sound he has pioneered has been a pillar influence for the Brooklyn minimal electronics scene and and beyond. Merging the influences of the first wave of relatively unknown minimal electronic bands in northern Europe, and seminal industrial noise bands such as Throbbing Gristle and SPK, with the smoothly stylish songcraft of early British New Wave, Martial Canterel records and performs using analogue synthesizers, sequencers and drum machines exclusively. Thoughtful yet distinctly danceable and infectious, this record is the apex of McBrides icily idiosyncratic sound. You Today incorporates bright, urgent melodies that snake and and swagger between major and minor keys. The songs emanate a subtle melancholic darkness and a rhythmic, militant propulsion keeping things moving against all odds. Lyrically, the album continues McBrides exploration of the increasing difficulty in trying to connect with real people and real things as technology renders the material substance of bodies and objects ever more abstract and distant. This yearning for unmediated human contact with the world is appropriately echoed throughout the album by the hands-on, entirely live approach to recording and performance ("the molding of electricity" as he has referred to his compositional technique.) "Market" and "Sidestreets" each delve into the disconcerting atmospheres of crowds, buildings, objects and intimates; the city with its boulevards, by-ways, and dead ends complicating the meeting of two lost and wandering figures (perhaps lovers?) The restrained, sensual haze of "The Empty Sand" conjures oceanic imagery while the title track is a lament to love lost, ambiguously addressing the listener as a memory image of potential connection and attraction. The solitary listener can certainly enjoy the music of Martial Canterel, but its visceral intensity also translates directly to the dancefloor. Amidst a flurry of flesh in motion, in a blissful atmosphere of material connection with others, the concepts that permeate the music and its creation become a reality." - Wierd.

Artist: MATTA LLAMA
Title: s/t
Format: LP
Label: Mad Monk
Country: USA
Price: $13.00
"Matta Llama are already one of the most talked about bands in New York City, but after the psych beardstrokers, dateless dronemongers, and stoner rock wastoids get ahold of this, the bands name will be express-delivered to legendary status alongside Trad Gras Och Stenar, Edgar Broughton Band, and High Rise. Featuring gifted artist Arik Moonhawk Roper on bass, this relentless foursome have crafted one of the most explicitly psychedelic and teeth-rattling albums to come along in years. With deluxe fold out poster and fancy matte printed covers, only 500 copies and destined to fly." - Mad Monk.

Artist: MATTA LLAMA
Title: The Witch Channel
Format: LP
Label: Black Dirt
Country: USA
Price: $14.50
"Sometimes, throughout the process of creating a record, it is easy to forget how much magic is involved. When one is surrounded by wires, microphones, dials, tubes, screens, and stomp boxes there can be a decided lack of mystery. These are the earliest Black Dirt recordings, originally captured a mere few days after our humble doors were opened. As a matter of fact, everyone involved approached the experience as a sort of favor youll be our guinea pig and well do our damn best to get a good document out of it. Matta Llama dug in for a session and did what they do so well... wordlessly picking up their instruments and at certain points, each others and opening up that secret door that allows access to a timeless wellspring of past and future sounds. After the band had improvised more than an albums worth of music, something seemed off on playback. Another session was scheduled and a different approach was taken. Oddly, the results were the same. We placed the recordings on a shelf and high fived each other before they rode off on their way back to the big, dark city. And there the recordings sat. But a funny thing happened a few years later after we received our Alchemists robe in the mail. We went back to the them and realized that whatever was leaden about the sounds Matta Llama had laid down so many months before was purely a result of a young studio and novice engineer! - and once some of those problems were corrected, a blazing, golden, psychedelic beacon shot out of the speakers. The band was immediately contacted and at an impromptu meeting many things were discussed. Seeds grown to trees, lead to gold, and finally the idea of this record. Now, so many years later, this record glows with magic. It is hard to believe that there were any of the mundane trappings of a studio involved at all. It is a swirling, mysterious, and dark record and the document of the birth of Black Dirt and were proud to present The Witch Channel to you." - Black Dirt. Edition of 500. Recorded at Black Dirt Studio Westtown, NY. Mastered by Carl Saff Chicago, IL. 140g vinyl pressed at Brooklyn Phono Brooklyn. NY. Covers silk screened by VGKids Ypsilanti, MI.

Artist: MAYYORS
Title: Deads EP
Format: 12"
Label: Hurling Man
Country: USA
Price: $8.25
"If youre a fan of listening to AmRep-style, throat-hammering noise rock while operating a lawnmower, Sacramentos Mayyors have been your favorite band for quite a while now. The stories that Ive heard about the general directive of this band (self-release ten singles and call it a day, suggest a coastal alliance and rarely leave the state of California) points towards a treatise on how to make people remember them. I hope the streak of conceptual purity holds out, and it looks as if it might, because this four-song 12" is better than their first two singles. Luxurious 45 RPM mastering at as little as four minutes per side makes this one of the loudest punk records since In Love with Jetts, guaranteeing that whatever rental properties its played in are going to lose significant fractions of their security deposits. Im not normally a fan of effects pedal abuse, but what Chris Woodhouse does with them on Clicks, the way he builds a simple, two-note progression into percussive blastloops that line up with the drums, and dial through them like the channel knob on a now-useless TV set, has turned me around. These guys busted DJ Ricks forehead open at a house show -- not on purpose, of course -- but when was the last time any of you felt so much for a band that you were willing to risk bodily harm to let them play? I think he took the hit for us all. Serious Hazelmyer/Gear Jammer worship put to a hefty rhythm section that fires the kick on the up and the down beats, possessing that rolled-up-in-a-rug-and-tossed-downhill sorta ambiance that really makes these sorta things come together. Prolonged exposure to these times has been difficult. Mayyors dont take the burn away, but they do blot out the rest of the world for refreshing, two-three-minute bursts -- in the parlance of the Cinco Toilet Shower, just enough time to get clean." - Doug Mosurok.

Artist: MCCLURE, BRUCE
Title: Vouchsafe Me More Soundpicture - Fain Make Glories
Format: LP
Label: Olde English Spelling Bee
Country: USA
Price: $14.50
"Bruce McClure is well known on the international experimental film circuit for his unique projector performances that utilize film loops & modified 16mm projectors. But there is also an equally innovative sound element to his work and he has been embraced by the experimental music community as well. Bruce performed at the Chocolate Monk curated Colour Out of Space festival in 2008 and was chosen as an opening act for Throbbing Gristles reunion tour in the spring of 2009. During McClures performances the optical sound signals from each projector are fed through banks of guitar pedals, manipulated live, and played at extremely high volumes through the p.a. system. The different loops phase in and out of each other resulting in what could be described as a power electronics version of the early tape experiments of Steve Reich and Terry Riley, while sparser sections have an off-kilter minimal techno feel reminiscent of Plastikman and the early works of Thomas Brinkmann. This album features four excerpts from a professionally recorded performance in early 2009 at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, MN. Edition of 375 copies in heavy duty covers silkscreened by Monoroid." - Olde English Spelling Bee.

Artist: MCEWEN, ADAM
Title: Obituaries
Format: LP
Label: From The Nursery
Country: USA
Price: $18.00
“ADAM MCEWEN wrote actual obituaries for The Daily Telegraph in London before he ever turned the genre into artwork, writing obituaries for still living and breathing celebrities like Kate Moss and Jeff Koons (hes done nine in total and has three more on the way). Seeing news in an art gallery of someone dead who is still so obviously alive is like creating a black hole on the wall-which seems to be an effect that McEwen, age 43, now living and working in New York, is particularly good at making.” - Christopher Bolllen, Interview. "White vinyl, 400 numbered copies. McEwen reads his fictional obituaries for Richard Prince and the Melvins. closing line for the Melvins: "There were no children."" - From The Nursery.

Artist: McPHEE, JOE & CHRIS CORSANO
Title: Under A Double Moon
Format: LP
Label: Roaratorio
Country: USA
Price: $9.75
"With a career now spanning over 40 years and more than 100 recordings, Joe McPhee has shown that emotional content and theoretical underpinnings are thoroughly compatible — and in fact, a critically important pairing — in the world of creative improvised music. Since recording The Hated Music with Paul Flaherty in 2000, Chris Corsano has been hyper-active in far-reaching corners of the free improvised world. Under A Double Moon, recorded live in Paris during a spring 2010 tour of Europe, is their first album together (and, given how phenomenally simpatico a partnership theyve forged, we hope its not the last). With cover artwork by Judith Lindbloom and liner notes by John Szwed. Download coupon included." -Roaratorio

Artist: MEDIO MUTANTE
Title: Inestable EP
Format: 12"
Label: Cititrax
Country: USA
Price: $14.50
"Cititrax is proud to present Medio Mutantes debut 12 inch EP. The six tracks on this record are the product of a serendipitous meeting of minds and the feverish week of recording sessions that followed. Mariana Saldana, Jose Cota and Seth Nemec met in 2007 in Austin Texas and began recording the same night, writing the title track Inestable as soon as the synths had been plugged in. Drawing on a shared love of synthesizers and drum machines, each had worked as a solo electronic artist before uniting, the three immediately found a shared vision. Having grown up listening to Hip-hop, Jazz, Latin freestyle and New Wave records from Europe, America and Japan, Medio Mutante wrings a mutated blend of raw and propulsive energy from their limited analogue gear. The bands name, literally “Average Mutant” in Spanish, is also an indication of their subtle perversion of familiar themes in their songs. Love, science fiction, and disenfranchisement in a future gone bland are turned on their ear in 6 danceable electro songs sung in Spanish and English. Medio Mutante are an American band, born of working class values, with their feet planted in the past but looking to the future. Limited edition of 600 copies." -Cititrax. New side label of Minimal Wave.

"it gives me great pleasure to announce the release of sean meehans first full-length solo since the early 1990s. this long overdue recording, titled sectors(for constant), is exquisitely encased in two sheets of handmade paper molded from recycled materials, pressed and assembled by sean himself. this limited production of the double cd set (in an edition of 500) is an important document of seans current work with cymbals and single snare drum." - SoS Editions. Artist: MEELKOP, ROEL
Title: (onkyo ok)
Format: CD
Label: CMR
Country: New Zealand
Price: $9.50
"Launching CMRs new line of hand-numbered 78rpm dust jacket CD packaging is Dutch sound artist Roel Meelkop. Roel was a founding member of audio art group THU20 in the early eighties who continue to perform and record, is currently a member of electro-acoustic live project Kapotte Muziek, and the electronic rhythm group GOEM (both along with Frans De Waard and Peter Duimelinks). Roel has a long history of visual art, sound installation, curation and organization of various live music events in Rotterdam, his city of residence, and abroad. His well-received solo work has been released on numerous labels including trente oiseaux (Ger), V2_Archief (Neth), line (US), Intransitive Recordings (US), Korm Plastics (Neth) and most recently Tariff Records (US) and Klingfilm (Bel). onkyo ok is composed of recordings made during Roels tour to Japan in summer 2001 (along with Frans De Waard and Peter Duimelinks). Where Kiyoshi Mizutanis Yokosawa-iri CD (cmr1) uses primarily rural sound sources from a selected area, onkyo ok may strike a special chord and familiarity with anyone who has visited Japans urban areas, cities and outlying regions. Various components of the rich Japanese soundscape (to name a few: pachinko parlours, train crossings, crows, electrical machines, people) have been captured, abstracted (or not), blended and re-composed creating unique sonic snapshots of this beautiful and at times bewildering country. The sound pieces are relatively constant over time (Roels characteristic silences are at a minimum) containing numerous complimentary sources simultaneously building together into broadband structures, then falling away to focus on various seperate objects and events. This album serves as a beautiful document and expression of the ever-changing Japanese acoustic environment as it was at the beginning of the twenty first century." - CMR.

Artist: MELCHIOR, DAN UND DAS MENACE

Artist: MENEGUAR
Title: The In Hour
Format: CD
Label: Woodsist
Country: USA
Price: $8.50
"Switching instruments and experimenting with recording techniques, Meneguar has cooked up a totally unique(and surprising) record. The In Hour channels the spontaneity and aesthetics of Swell Maps, the pop hooks of the Zombies, and lyrical collage of Guided By Voices. Everything was home recorded at their little Xanadu in Brooklyn, Rear House, home base to Jeremy Earls Woodsist label (Blues Control, Sic Alps, Wooden Wand, Jana Hunter) and the changing roster of Meneguars alter egos (Woods, Shepherds). Only six months since their last record, The In Hour represents a serious departure that still holds true to the bands undeniable pop sensibility." -Woodsist.

Artist: MERZBOW
Title: Live Destruction at No Fun 2007
Format: CD
Label: No Fun
Country: USA
Price: $8.50
"At this years No Fun Fest, the legendary Japanese noise king Merzbow gave a blistering performance that stunningly brought together both his classic analog and recently-explored digital concerns. Keeping pace between two laptops and an amplified sheet-metal instrument, the walls of computerized droning distortion and psyched-out metallic scarping easily reminded those attending to the world of noise that even icons with twenty-plus year careers under their belts can still vivaciously channel the advancements they helped build as well as compose stunning untried sounds. Along with the recent Pain Jerk/Incapacitants split CD and the upcoming Aaron Dilloway/Carlos Giffoni split LP, Live Destruction at No Fun 2007 manifests itself as an essential audio document of one of many striking performances at this years festival. Often considered a genre best experienced live, the gargantuan walls of outer-region sonics set forth by noise were aptly spawned in-the-moment and afresh by their performers, and the variety, sheer power, and unrelenting confidence of Merzbows set in particular no doubt left longtime followers thoroughly fulfilled while those whove only heard the name thrown around in mythical regard were bound to have been left with a hearty appreciation of his genius. " - No Fun.

Artist: MERZBOW/CARLOS GIFFONI/JIM O ROURKE
Title: Electric Dress

"Electric Dress covers the full spectrum of sound color possibility, from totally brutal walls of destructive noise to beautiful minimal synthetic interplay, analog drone and shifting alien electronics. A total face melting collaboration recorded live in Tokyo using an array of analog synths and a variety of custom analog equipment, including Merzbows classic home made spring/junk metal instrument. Warm, varied, and obsessive this is what industrial music should have been, the sound of infinite machines demolishing a planet and creating a new structure where live organisms have been eradicated. Edited and mastered by Jim for maximum sonic annihilation. comes in our deluxe mini-gatefold package." - No Fun.

Artist: MESSAGES
Title: After Before
Format: LP
Label: Destijl
Country: USA
Price: $12.50
"The baby believes the womb is the Universe. At birth there is a glimmer of light and a shifting of space. I was there, but now i am Here. Then there are still but 2 things : Me and the Universe. And then what happens is Other People. From a note sounded in 1960 and held for a long time, a continuum of Sound has been sluiced along a diagonal of personal ecstasy, and some have come to call it a Drone. Surrounding the Drone is a genre, and within, wheat and chaff often comingle all too comfortably. But with tones as thick and texturally luxuriant with spiritual resonance as their long, glorious hair, Messages are the two worthy gurus currently contributing to the echo. Messages evoke the womb. And when the womb smiles, it whispers Messages, and then there is the first glimmer of Light.." - Meassges. ""TAKETO SHIMADA moved to New York in late 80s and has been making music with TRES WARREN of PSYCHIC ILLS as MESSAGES since 2006, exploring a hybrid of raga, techno and drone rock. Odds are someone walking down Canal Street in NYC will hear the sound of Messages coming from a fifth floor walkup: mashing sine waves, bass loops, guitars, samplers and turntables into a storm of slowly shifting repetitions, heavy monotone low-end and smoky echoes that conjure unexpected subsonic grooves. Dusted called their Social Registry seven-inch "some heavy, humid drone, pregnant with 4am electricity and, in the end, thick fuzzy beats. A beautiful surprise, engaging even in its abstract tendencies." - Destijl. Taketo Shimada on bass and tambura, Tres Warren (Psychic Ills) on shruti box, guitar and ukelin and Spencer Herbst (Matta Llama) on percussion. Highly recommended!

Artist: METABOLISMUS
Title: Spriebwartsdrall
Format: CD
Label: Amish
Country: USA
Price: $9.75
"This full length is firmly rooted in the rich German experimental music tradition of such bands as Can, Amon Duul and Popol Vuh. The album begins with subtle tones that shift and eventually build into a Silver Apples psychedelic groove. Things move back and forth through layers of analog synthesizer orchestration, electronics and droning violin, eventually accentuated by ambient recordings of wind chimes, cow bells, birds, crickets, barking dogs and the sounds of Stuttgart. An absolutely stunning record, which Bananafish claims, has "24-7 potential." Vivid full color artwork by German animation artist Petra Kolitsch. Edition of 600." - Amish.

"After a period of semi-hibernation and technological downgrading Metal Rouge are back with the first full length missive by their new trio formation. On Trails lifers Helga Fassonaki (lapsteel/vocals) and Andrew Scott (guitar) are joined by true-crime aficionado Caitlin Mitchell (drums) for a free floating investigation into Lew Welch’s mist-ridden disappearance into the norcal wilderness on one side and a raging fit of white magic against urban-planning hell on the other. Mumbling low-fidelity chord flares, dual slide attacks and reverb-drenched vocal confusion underwritten by stuttering free cymbal play and outright rockist brutalism combine to make this perversely their most approachable release yet. Come get lost. Recorded at Green Machines 09, Mastered by Pete Swanson, Photo Art by Lemule Barbour. Edition of 300." - Emerald Cocoon.

Artist: METZGER, PAUL
Title: Anamnestic Tincture
Format: LP
Label: Roaratorio
Country: USA
Price: $13.50
"Anamnestic Tincture is a live album by virtuosic musical carpenter Paul Metzger, culled from many hours of concert recordings. Side one comprises Metzgers public debut on his modified banjo, recorded in 2002 at a former church-turned-underground art space in Minneapolis. One of his most memorable compositions, "After Milo" later turned up as an untitled improvisation on his CD for the Chairkickers label. Jumping ahead six years (and several more banjo alterations later) to side two, the glittering "Orans" gets a workout at a memorial show for the artist Matt Zaun. As an acknowledgment of the occasion, Metzger also gave a one-time-only performance -- "Dark Green Water" -- on another of his mutant instruments: an acoustic guitar with the body drilled out to accommodate a cymbal set into its face, and ten assorted strings of varying lengths laid over the top, giving it a particularly metallic and dissonant sound. Anamnestic Tincture is released in an edition of 425 copies, with an original vintage snapshot mounted on each cover." -Roaratorio.

"Heavy duty collaboration LP by BS and belgian artist/gurner Ludo Mich. Side A documents the 2006 live appearance at Instal. A great crystal clear desk recording which puts you within feet of the saliva and sweat drench. While side B is a three piece electro-accoustic, smoked out, brain workover. Some of our most outthere stuff. Edition of 250 so get moving, nerdass." -Chocolate Monk.

Title: Sorcerers Delight
Format: 7"
Label: Mexican Summer
Country: USA
Price: $3.75
"We first heard of Michael Angelos brilliant soft psyche from his 1977 self-titled album, but when Angelo himself shared these ultra rare recordings from his album A Sorcerers Dream-Mexican Summer headquarters pretty much flipped out. This is a perfect 7 inch thats filled with ahead of its time bubble jams-if Bobb Trimble, Ariel Pink, and Caetano Veloso had a drunken night, it would surely harp this. 500 pressed" -Mexican Summe

Artist: MINKS
Title: Funeral Song
Format: 7"
Label: Captured Tracks
Country: USA
Price: $4.00
"As generous a kiss-off to Summer as we could hope for, MINKS “Funeral Song” came virtually out of nowhere. Like if Robert Smith gave birth to a baby, and the baby was actually a cassette of Cure demos that had a lot more staying power than actual Cure demos. Ostensibly we could say this song is reactionary: abandoning the good vibes and surf jams of the warm months of 09 in favor of something colder. Rigid bass lines over icy, high-register synth whine. But the song has a lot more heart than that, so long summer time repeated endlessly until it not only makes sense, but makes frigid cold seem welcoming." - Fader

Title: Ophelia
Format: 7"
Label: Captured Tracks
Country: USA
Price: $4.25
"Minks penchant for crafting dark pop songs with classic sensibilities sees no end in sight. "Ophelia" finds them in more of a pastoral, reflective mood than the previous single, drawing on Felt/Durutti Column guitar textures and dreamy, whispy vocal melodies. Two more tracks on the B-Side and thats all you get until the debut LP comes out in the Fall." -Captured Tracks

Artist: MIZUTANI, KIYOSHI
Title: Yokosawa-iri
Format: CD
Label: CMR
Country: New Zealand
Price: $9.50
"CMR is happy to present its first release by long term sound artist Kiyoshi Mizutani. A former member of Merzbow, Mizutani has been creating his solo work since 1989, delving into areas of electronic noise, structural sound systems of feedback and instrumentation as well as natural compositional arrangements of field recordings. Yokosawa-iri falls into the latter category. All field recordings were made at this Satoyama, a traditional form of agricultural environment consisting of a mountain, a rice field and a small village where people and nature coexist in harmony. With beautiful clarity Mizutani illustrates an environment and its inhabitants through the delicate combination of found sounds both natural and mechanical. The Satoyama is a very rare setting in contemporary Japan, no doubt one of the reasons Mizutani chose to document the area. Constructed from overlapping forest sounds of wind, trees, birds, rocks, insects, animals and children (to name a few sources) the tracks rise and fall with intensity, at times suggesting the encroaching modern world on this traditional area. Yokosawa-iri is a beautiful entry into Mizutanis already impressive dossier of sound work." - CMR.

The forerunners of the modern psych punk scene, the Monoshock have turned the ears of the Stooges Steve Mackey, Julian Cope, the schmoes at WFMU, & even Mitch Cardwell. Crazed wah-wah attack with enough drive to send Hawkwind back to outer space. There is so much scuzz on this CD that you will rip your damn head off in a state of frenzy and like it! Artist: MONOTRACT
Title: Red Tape- 1999
Format: CDR
Label: Monotract
Country: USA
Price: $8.75
"the Monotract tape on White, which was ratty as f**k, a live band in a basement and/or apartment playing loud to an audience of themselves and the recording head of a cheap cassette four-track. Two guitars and a sparse drummer, much of the time playing straight-out noise (heavy on wacked effect-box stompery) but not without a strangely swaggering rock undercurrent. 98% instrumental, and when the singing comes you barely notice it, and the lyrics cant be real words....just some quiet wail and chatter coming from somewhere in the basement." - Blastitude, 2000. CDR reissue of late 90s White Tapes release, handpainted, bound in wire. Edition of 100.

Artist: MOON DUO
Title: Killing Time
Format: 12"
Label: Sacred Bones
Country: USA
Price: $10.00
"Moon Duo is the solo alter-ego of Wooden Shjips guitarist and singer Ripley Johnson. Under the Moon Duo moniker Johnson creates expansive Krautrock influenced tapestries of warm cascading fuzz and controlled feedback, organ, and accenting keyboard. This four song 12" is the second release and incorporates a much more concise, composed and driving sound than before. Johnson expands on ideas only hinted at on the Sick Thirst 12" (which is already long gone) adding a driving drum machine beat behind the thick walls of layered sound. Dont sleep on this one." -Sacred Bones.

Childhood dreams of noise essayed with photos of unsuspecting innocents running from noise weirdo (front cover) and texas blues albino drug zap (johnny winter – still alive and well detail – back cover). This is the story told in drone meditation and sweet slice." - No Fun.

"Two dudes over 6 feet tall making totally fucked noise. THURSTON MOORE is on side A, putting you into a reverb junk zone a hundred feet under the ground where you can actually hear the grubs boring holes through the dirt & sucking the flesh off your dead pets corpse. COTTON MUSEUM is on side B creating theremin & loop scum, super rotted style. Skulls scraping on rib bones over and over. Created to keep your mind off of the insect eggs that were laid in your eye sockets. Try sticking your damn patch cable right into an open sore and it would probably sound something like this record. Limited to 500 Copies w/ 3 color Pro-Screen printed covers with art by Chris Pottinger. Tasty Soils first official LP release!! Each copy is numbered out of 500." - Tasty Soil.

Title: Obscure Tape Music From Japan Vol.3 - Music Drama
Format: CD
Label: Omega Point
Country: Japan
Price: $17.50
"Akai Mayu" is a short fiction of Koubou Abe (1924-1993). This music drama version was broadcasted by NHK in 1960. Makoto Moroi is a pioneer of Japanese electronic music, and he composed the music used chamber ensemble, mixed chorus and electronic sound on this work. Artist: MOTHER OF FIRE
Title: s/t
Format: LP
Label: Destijl
Country: USA
Price: $12.50
"Troubling rituals are gathering. Haggling skills are becoming golden chisels, and granite belts grind them to sparks. Turning with traction, these sparks gather like flies. The kinetic tones of acceleration found within Mother of Fire combs the psyche for hints of panic and replaces it with an imperative momentum. Drive away superficial doubt like a herd of unwanted beasts, and allow the sagacious freedom our instinct rightfully deserves, its requisite course. Channeling this responsibility with confident sincerity, the troubling is at once the relaxing. This conviction and tolerance is persistent, enabling a bloodletting which battles to cure and to cull. Without the contemporary irony used to punctuate and justify in distanced safety, Mother of Fire instead creates an honest reflection through brave hand forged lenses. Churned in memory-like cycles the ritual is commanded by searing bow strokes and a Muscovy glass voice. Silhouette elements pass decree through almost ancient melodic incantation. The stable hand of song in a world saturated with scattering distraction. Beside these earnest standards a rich understandable darkness, like the pulse of frozen lakes and failing factories, urges us toward the terrible, daunting and sublime. It is here in the folds of both endurance and remedy that Mother of Fire sways with darkness until darkness swoons." -Asa Irons

Artist: MOTOR GHOST
Title: A Gold Chain Round Her Breast
Format: LP
Label: Dancing Wayang
Country: UK
Price: $23.50
"MOTOR GHOST is the new project of free drummer / vocalist Alex Neilson and multi-instrumentalist Ben Reynolds. Both Glasgow residents and frequent collaborators on the live circuit, A Gold Chain Round Her Breast is their first recorded document as a duo. From the brooding opener through tracks of soaring electricity to the beautifully fragile a capella rendition of the folk song Leaves Of Life, this album sees Alex and Ben exploring darkness and light and all shades in between. Alex drumming provides much of the backbone of the album supporting and conversing with Bens acoustic and electric guitars, loops and the call of the d(a Greek horn). Recording in a studio environment allowed MOTOR GHOST to define their sound and experiment with overdubs to lay down some intense tracks. The album comes in screenprinted sleeves, all of which have been hand embellished with gold enamel and are individually numbered. ALEX NEILSON SOLO bonus disk – The first 100 copies of the album include a 3” bonus disk containing a 4 song solo vocal set Alex performed at the Macbeth in London the day before the MOTOR GHOST studio session. The bonus disk features exclusive liner notes by Scottish folk singer Alasdair Roberts (Drag City). ALEX NEILSON has been drumming up a storm in the last few years playing with some of the UKs finest innovators like Richard Youngs, Ashtray Navigations, Taurpis Tula and Scatter as well as accompanying Jandek on his first ever and subsequent UK live shows. More recently hes been playing internationally with Bonnie Prince Billy and developing his solo project Directing Hand further to include (solo) singing as well as his inspired freeform drumming. Alex personal interest to investigate parallels between improvised, experimental and more traditional folk music is clearly audible on A Gold Chain Round Her Breast. BEN REYNOLDS (www.benreynolds.tk) is an improviser, guitarist and composer who has been an active participant in the UK underground music scene for several years, playing and recording as a solo artist as well as in Phil Todds Ashtray Navigations and with such underground activists as Bridget Hayden (Vibracathedral Orchestra), John Fail (Lied Music, Oakwhistle), Andy Jarvis (Sculptress, A Warm Palindrome) and Jani Hirvonen (Uton). More recently Ben has become increasingly interested in the potential of music as a psychedelic force, which can change life by illuminating the usually unconscious faculties of the human psyche." - Dancing Wayang. Limited to 300 copies.

"Mouthus is Brian Sullivan on guitar and Nate Nelson on drums, but the real question is not who they are but rather: is Mouthus a rock band? Last time I saw them live someone said they look like they are rocking, but it sounds like a giant air conditioner testing facility. Not only is this 2x12" very rocking in the sense that you are going to want to headbang until your head falls out, but it also sounds like an industrial record, a prog rock record, a heavy psychedelic guitar record, and a giant air conditioner testing facility, and yes that is only the first side out of four of these 2x12" wonder. strangest, weirdest, and yet most rocking band in new york city,Mouthus rules. He made rhizomatic structures with scrap iron (Gerlastiken), but soon proceeded to the Aktion in the vein of the New York Happenings. Gradually, Muehl began to distance himself from Aktion. Title: Hick Smoke
Format: LP
Label: Manhand
Country: USA
Price: $15.75
Edition of 300. screened jacket. "Used to be a time when MV & EEs main means of expression was their Child Of Microtones. Tons of full length albums would be released every year on that label, but nowadays, were lucky if we get more than one per year). True the band seem to permanently be on the road so there is less time to record anything at the Maximum Arousal Farm. The Heroine Celestial Agriculture label has now gone on to become the main outlet for their live recordings (these seem to pop up everywhere like weed - no pun intended) and Im not complaining really, but I do miss all the elaborately packaged albums from the early years. Hick Smoke is the first CoM release for 2009 (Im keeping my fingers crossed for more) and is an interesting mix between the bands bastardized Neil Young clones, their LSD-laced folk tunes and the infamous extended freak-out jams. Sure wish there would be more like this, cuz Hick Smoke is definitely a must for fans." - Manhand.

"Yes, you heard us right. We just got this summer loving bliss festival of a record back from the pressing plant and it is everything we hoped it could be and more. Side A, "Moment Spacing" is a two-and-a-half-minute blast of "ooh-la-la-la-la-la" joy that wraps a posi+ aura around the world. B-side, Bong Judge is the stoned, slowed down, phaser-drenched, stretched-out basement tapes version of (almost unrecognisably) the same song running at six+ minutes. The most beautiful record we think well hear all year. (And we sold half of the 500 copies in the first week, so be quick if you want one)." -Golden Lab

Title: When the Windmills Whirl Dies
Format: LP
Label: Eclipse
Country: USA
Price: $11.50
"The new work by the space-brothers Maurizio and Roberto Opalio, alias My Cat Is An Alien. Both the words, recited and shaped by Roberto from his own homonymous poem that suggested the title of the album, and the oblique minimalism of the complex musical texture made of flowing space sounds, represent the abstract neo-expressionistic substratum of the whole corpus of the work. Moving throughout a nebula of space dust and debris, the starting spoken-word vocals alongside the percussive section sound as powerfully impressive as the violent imagery of trees beaten down by the storm, while the whispered silence of Perspective of Time and Fallin, on side two, discloses the emotional and existential universe of an isolated broken soul, lost in a world of inanity. This is the center of the No-thing Universe, where each single word or sound assumes the aspect of a sort of pagan prayer that speaks the language of astral folk-blues. In this context, MCIAAs outer space becomes a re-found uterus, meant to be the form of a new self-biogenesis. At the same time, space is conceived as symbol of the eternal theatre surrounding the mysterious cycle of life & death; such infinite space, despite such limited time. This cosmic-chant of the new millennium may heat our nights like a flame left to enlighten the shadows of the coldest darkness." Edition of 600 copies.

"A poop stained, pajama wearing Mark E. Smith molested by the Muppet Babies would be a treat compared to this pile of rubbed rhubard crap. Skipping glitches massage the mundane into your palm(fair tempered crawl unit coaxing strangulated beatoffs grandeur), while the first dose of mutilated pop improv invokes flailing limpness in the vein of Costes and Mens Recovery Project. This wouldve fit uncomfortably onto the superb "I Hate The Pop Group" or "Killed By Death Swingalongamuck" comps. You wanna get wet? Northen California has never been so amused and constipated. Title: Langton Freemans Summer House Tomb
Format: CDR
Label: Waterden
Country: UK
Price: $8.50
"The Mystic Umbrellas made their debut in 1980 on the Deleted Records tape Deleted Funtime with the ethereal, drifting keyboard composition Journey To The West. Compared then to the work of Popul Vuh and The Residents, the pieces meandering mournfulness won admirers, and an album-length release was recorded and planned, but did not come together. Now, over twenty years later, the rediscovered tapes of the lost album have been remastered and remixed for release on the Waterden label. As well as Journey to the West, the album features a suite of five pieces inspired by an eccentric 18th century Northamptonshire parson who decreed in his will that he should be buried on his feather bed in a summer-house in his garden. The story of Langton Freemans Summer-House Tomb is evoked by the gentle, wistful and also faintly eerie sounds of Mark Valentines reed-organ compositions, considerably enhanced by Mark Lancasters sympathetic production. So bid the butler fetch a pot of Earl Grey and a slice of Madeira cake, pull the overstuffed leather armchair up to the study fire and settle back to enjoy what may be the first ever Antiquarian/Chillout crossover album..." - Waterden.
