Artist: SAMPS, THE
Title: The Samps
Format: LP
Label: Mexican Summer
Country: USA
Price: $17.00
"A hidden agenda from members of Ariel Pinks Haunted Graffiti, the Samps toe over the chillwave divide into legit, spaced out R&B dance jams, clipped together from uncharted sources and designed to insert the boogie back in your butt. Five tracks of computer funq, jittery rhythms, and heavy synth bass abuse, ready for the dancefloor in your room." - Mexican Summer.

Title: Seal Pool Sounds
Format: CD
Label: Seal Pool
Country: Japan
Price: $10.25
"seal pool sounds is the first cd release of new material from snatch tapes founder, organum collaborator, and british installation artist, philip sanderson. seal pool sounds picks up where sandersons storm bugs project left off sometime in 1981. sandersons diy software electronics conjure whimsical, plaintive electronic tones and rhythms: sounds that recollect the light-hearted, yet melancholy nature of 20th century zoos. (the cd) at once evokes lafms, raymond scott, marcel duchamp, and french new wave film music. seal pool is a japan-based label whose releases are inspired by chance encounters, found objects and recurring dreams. seal pools first cd was jonathan coleclough and tim hill - beech for john and miho." - Seal Pool.

Artist: SCREAMIN MEE-MEES
Title: Answer Me
Format: 7"
Label: Brinkman
Country: USA
Price: $3.00
"More freaked-out, minimalist guitar ruckus from the man thats been turning his moms basement into party-central since the late-60s. Eternal teenager, Bruce Cole, and his drummer-buddy Jon Ashline play their garage rock several sheet to the wind, always. "PLAY LOUD ON CHEAP STEREO!" It says on the cover, "preferably with a stack of Schlitz or Pabst within arms reach" should have been added. This 45 originally came out in 1996. Grab one before theyre gone." -Brinkman

Artist: SCROTUM POLES
Title: Revelation
Format: 7"
Label: Dulc-i-Tone
Country: USA
Price: $5.00
"Finally! After Auchmithie Forevers treasures were unleashed last year, now here comes what youve all been waiting for: a complete reproduction of arguably THE best example of the pop side (or any side, really!) of the UK DIY post-punk era. Dundees Smeg, Burt, Sid & Stripey originally released Revelation themselves in handmade, ill-fitting covers in 1980, and thirty-one years later it still deserves to be filed alongside 14th Floor, Spiral Scratch, and The Medium is Tedium. With more hits on one single than most bands have across multiple albums, the five songs here perfectly encapsulate the excitement of the UK post-punk explosion from the perspective of a teenage record fanatic. From the raging proto-hardcore Radio Tay and the untouchable bedroom powerpop of "Helicopter Honeymoon", to the gloomy Night Train and the dreary pop classic "Pick the Cats Eyes Out", Revelation sounds almost like a clunky sampling of what was happening at the time but simultaeously outdoes the bands idols with its stripped-down purity and undeniably instant catchiness. Remastered and packaged in glossy glued sleeves, and including a repro of the orginal entertaining ditto-on-gold paper insert (complete with connect the dot games and Do the Scrote dance instructions), its worth the wait! First pressing of 500 copies." - Dulc-i-Tone.

Artist: SECOND DECAY
Title: Le D飡dence ɬectronique
Format: LP
Label: Dark Entries
Country: USA
Price: $14.50
"Dark Entries presents, for the first time ever on vinyl, the debut full length album by German electronic darkwave pioneers, Second Decay. Formed by Christian Purwien and Andreas Sippel in 1987, Second Decay hit the underground dark dance scene with their 12" Killing Time and then worked on their debut album from 1988 to 1992. La D飡dence ɬectronique is an album full of addictive analogue electronics that combine synthetic sounds and constant rhythms with memorable vocals. Each song has been carefully remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley and is limited to 500 hand-numbered copies." - Dark Entries.

Artist: SEMIMUUMIO
Title: Vamos
Format: CD
Label: Lal Lal Lal
Country: Finland
Price: $13.00
"Solo debut record by Jaakko Tolvi (Pymathon, Rauhanorkesteri, Lauhkeat lampaat, Kemialliset yst䶤t)! Mostly sample-based partybeats for children and adults, probably not for teenagers. Call it emotional, adult-oriented beat." - Lal Lal Lal

Artist: SEX CHURCH
Title: 6 Songs By Sex Church
Format: LP
Label: Convulsive
Country: USA
Price: $11.00
"Sex Church is a band from Vancouver, Canada. Their music is inspired by depression, frustration, disappointment and other such inner turmoils that are the sources of great works of art. Like bands such as The Wipers and Cheater Slicks, Sex Church takes that gloom and doom and spews it out in a punk and garage blueprint mixed with some hard driving krautrock repetitiveness as well as melodic shoegaze elements and turn something ugly into something beautiful. "6 Songs by Sex Church", their debut full length LP, shows the world what this band is truly capable of featuring moody numbers like "Old Enough" "I Dont Wanna Die" and "The Floor", as well ripping hard driving numbers like "Not Anymore" "Ghost" and "Mistaken". A perfect follow up to their single on Sweet Rot Records and a perfect record for fans of bummer rock n drone. First edition of 500" -Convulsive

Artist: SHACKAMAXON
Title: Shackamaxon
Format: LP
Label: HP Cycle
Country: Canada
Price: $12.75
Artist: SHACKAMAXON Title: Shackamaxon Format: LP Label: HP Cycle Country: Canada w/sale: 12.75 "Shackamaxon began back in 2001 when members of Double Leopards, Son of Earth and Magik Markers united to record and create music together. Since that time, the ensemble has quietly unleashed their psychedelic drift through a handful of live performances and a self-released CDr. Their self-titled debut LP presents four pieces of restrained beauty that encapsulates the Shackamaxon sound. The album begins with a side-long excursion where sparse organic textures become enveloped in cavernous layers of sound and perpetually fuzzed drones. It is a steady swell which builds to immense heights before fading into the expanse. Side two starts off with a brief introduction of fluttering tones, then diverges into an intricate passage of controlled feedback chatter and subtle reverberations. The album concludes with what sounds like a field recording from an alien rain forest, capturing strange creatures chirping and gurgling as the humidity drips from the canopy. ..beautiful cover art by Amy Borezo." - HP Cycle.

Artist: SHALLOW WATERS
Title: Equal Eyes
Format: LP
Label: Hospital Productions
Country: USA
Price: $13.50
"the first full length of this heavily active live unit from providence, ri. there is no solid footing in shallow waters. only a suffocating hail of falling rock, strangling vines, and sinkholes. it is with rare exception that voice spits the last of breaths, the dying breaths, with such spite. like a rabbit trapped in the hole of the snakes throat, this duo comprised of members of immaculate:grotesque and em dath rir batter and tear there way through 6 tracks of power electronics eco-fallout and revolutionary anger. although there is not one moment of relief in this litany of rage shallow waters separates themselves from the pack by creating what an album and not just a collection of tracks with the focus of a sniper and the fury of napalm. get into the fight."- Hospital Productions

Artist: SHE
Title: Outta Reach
Format: LP
Label: Causeway
Country:
Price: $11.00
"She were an all-girl band from Sacramento, California, that operated between 1964 and 1971 and were led by sisters Nancy and Sally Ross. Unlike most acts ascribed to the "girls-with-guitars" genre, She was one hundred per cent authentic - they genuinely played their own instruments, sang and wrote their own striking but original material and copped one hell of a bad attitude that would put most self-proclaimed rebel boy bands to shame. Appealingly crude in their early incarnation as the Hairem, by their later years She was a force to be reckoned with. The group became a massively popular live attraction in northern California but unfortunately never made a commercial breakthrough, despite healthy airplay for their lone release on the Kent label, the classic Outta Reach. Far, far more than a mere novelty, musically and philosophically She were in a class of their own, with drop-dead good looks and such memorable tunes as Like A Snake, Piece Of You and Bad Girl. And indeed She were bad girls, getting thrown out of movie theatres and even the California State Capitol building for their disruptive behaviour and smart-ass punk attitude. Truly the female equivalent of the Stones." B Side features recordings as The Hairem. Limited..

Artist: SHIRAISHI & SEAN MEEHAN, TAMIO
Title: In The City
Format: One Sided LP
Label: Fusetron
Country: USA
Price: $10.00
"each summer tamio shiraishi & sean meehan pair up for a series of outdoor concerts in new york city always in a different location, the concerts explore unwatched and unconsidered sites of the city. (this LP) is the first release of this summer tradition. 12" vinyl with a b-sided etching by knickerbocker." - sean meehan. Recorded underneath the West Side Highway at 59th Street, NYC, by Geoff Dugan, 21 july 2001. SEAN MEEHAN - "Current performances generally find Meehan playing only the snare drum in a manner that sheds conventional usage and reconstructs the conception and function of the instrument." Meehan has collaborated with Sachiko M, Mamoru Fujieda, Michihiro Sato, Edwin Torres, Muigel Algarin, Greg Kelley, Ami Yoshida, Taku Sugimoto, Toshimaru Nakamura, Tetzui Akiyama, Kiyoharu Kuwayama and many others. Additionally he has performed throughout North and South America, Asia and Eastern Europe. TAMIO SHIRAISHI - Shiraishi has been performing since the late 1970s, including playing drums and synthesizer in an early incarnation of Fushitsusha. His first released recordings, consisting of solo sax with broken drum machine, were included on the 1981 Aiyoku Jinmin Juji Gekijo compilation on Pinakotheca (who also released the first Keiji Haino LP). Hes currently living in NYC and occasionally collaborates with the No Neck Blues Band. GEOFF DUGAN - "Geoff Dugan has been performing, recording, and producing sonic environments since 1983. Recent projects include a binaural psychogeography recording and performance: "aberto/fechyado parque serralves" at the Serralves Foundation in Oporto and an audio psychogeographical report from New York performed at the 2002 Zeppelin Festival of Sound Art in Barcelona. Geoff runs the recording label GD Stereo that has released a series of compilation compact discs organized around psychogeography and the theory of the d°߅0ѷrive among the various (the artists): The Architecture of the Incidental (1999) and Psychogeographical Dip (1997). Solo projects include Play in random or shuffle mode. (GD Stereo, 2001), Surface Tension (Open Circuit, 2000) and the Stomach Ache Records release Technical Comfort Formalistic Style Features (7" vinyl - 1994). Geoff is also an architect and lives in NYC."

Title: Summer Concerts
Format: LP
Label: Old Gold/GD Stereo
Country: USA
Price: $13.25
"180-gram vinyl LP edition of 510 in silkscreened jackets with art by Knickerbocker. A co-release with GD Stereo. When I first heard Tamio Shiraishi, I wanted to blow my eyes out. The opening burst of sheer overpowering SOUND of his sax on the "Our Lips Are Sealed" CD on Pure was all I needed to hear to know that I had to (a) get my hands on all his music, and (b) get a saxophone myself and have at it. Years later, here I am still trying, and there Shiraishi is cracking concrete and splitting bridges in half in New York City with his trusty horn. A follow up to the Fusetron one-sided 12", this 180 gram vinyl is a full length capturing two Summer concerts that Shiraishi and percussionist/artist/thinker/time traveler Sean Meehan put on every year in the Big Apple. I wasnt there, but Geoff Dugan was and recorded them for the rest of us poor saps. A third player should be given credit here, too, as the landscapes the duo chose for venues are just as much a part of the recording as the instruments played. The Manhattan Bridge and the municipal garage on 79th Street cradled, amplify, defy and deflect Shiraishi and Meehan. The passing traffic and trains make it a quartet. As for Meehan, I have no idea what hes doing. But its a damn fine thing whatever it is. Eat it up." - Marshall Avett, Old Gold. Highly Recommended!

Artist: SIC ALPS
Title: U.S. EZ
Format: LP
Label: Siltbreeze
Country: USA
Price: $10.00
"U.S. EZ is the fourth long-player in the SIC ALPS canon (excluding the recent singles comp CD, A Long Way Around to a Shortcut), and their first for the Siltbreeze label. Fans of last years amazing Description of the Harbor LP will not be disappointed, especially if they want to hear Side As cosmic concrete creak, forged with the trebly, high-end neo-glam pop of Side B. The duo of MIKE DONOVAN and MATT HARTMAN outdo themselves here and it is the most fully realized Sic Alps release to date. U.S. EZ knows perfectly well what it means to be high and inside. Its not just baseball jargon anymore. If youve been jonesin for an LP that calls to mind equal parts Bob Markley and Uli Trepte, then look no further, mein dueden (und duedetten). U.S. EZ is the virtual brick of Berlin / Big Sur hash weve all been waiting to break into. The ominous deaths head fez has now been ensconced in a witchy naugahyde bonnet, thus levelling the playing field for both the psychedelically challenged and the itinerant avant garde. Sic Alps have always sprechen zie good vibes and U.S. EZ is a solid thump on all fronts. A summer tour of the States and a European one in the fall are in the works." - Siltbreeze

Title: End Times
Format: CD
Label: Fusetron
Country: USA
Price: $8.75
"Fiery phoenix, four horsemen, or just plain ferocious, Sightings is back with another free rock H-Bomb. Comprised primarily of improvisations and recorded for the price of cassette tape, they leave no doubt western civilization is coming to an end....But seriously folks, this CD is companion to a vinyl release on the EN/OF label. EN/OF is a series of releases from the Bottrop-Boy record label. Every release contains a 12" record & an art edition and is limited to 100 copies. Sightings is paired with the German painter Daniel Richter who contributed an exclusive piece, "Das SchŰ㲮ste Ist Geschichte", an offset print,30x90 cm, with hand-painted elements. The LP features three tracks from "End Times" as well as another exclusive track. Richter was kind enough to lend artwork for the CD as well. "End Times" is 56 minutes of head-rinsing to take the millennarian fever to the next level."

Title: Future Accidents
Format: LP
Label: Our Mouth
Country: USA
Price: $9.75
"Its kind of strange to think its been ten years since we first saw Sightings blowing minds and circuit breakers throughout the then fresh Brooklyn loft scene. Over the years, the band has taken that ball of blare they were initially known for and pulled it apart strand by strand and wire by wire to get to the transparent core of their sound while still retaining their disturbing qualities. Their past two full lengths, 2007s Through the Panama and 2010s City of Straw were obvious successful in this exploration, but Future Accidents really nails it in giving up the honest-to-god barebones goods. A rawer sprawl into the pregnant nowhere sound has yet to be waxed by these gents and ifn they ever do top this, Ill just utter the words I saw on the back of that pick-up truck the other day, HOT DAMN!" - Tony Rettman; Resident Blowhard, Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.

Title: Michigan Haters
Format: CD
Label: Psych-o-Path
Country: USA
Price: $8.50
"Rock is about danger, people. Sightings live shows sure as hell arent background music for a thrift-store fashion show. They bring the pain but good. Sightings second LP, Michigan Haters captures the sonic abandon that makes their performances such a liberating mindfuck. This Brooklyn by way of Motown trio pounds out an abrasive skronk that at first comes off as a pure denial. The primitivist, lurching rhythms, shuddery basslines and trebly guitar slashes seem conceived to prove that Sightings is more punk than you, and youre just not meant to understand. But then, wait a second. Youve been bruised, defeated, and suddenly youre floating in a river of psychedelic scree. Mark M. is yelping out some Lord of the Flies incantations. You cant pogo to it, but you can twitch all night. The violence of Michigan Haters flows in all directions; it destroys itself and the listener to reveal hidden conduits of sound, from the rubberized rumble of "Chili Dog" to the more bleached and angular "Guilty of Wrecking". Its a soundtrack for punching holes in walls and watching them bleed vital fluids. Sightings plays noise that hasnt been defused by aesthetic noodling; theyre not Sonic Youth and they dont want to be. Think DNA, Big Black, Keiji Haino if you have to think at all. Play it loud and watch the neighbors run for cover." - Psycho-o-Path. Remastered repress.

Title: Michigan Haters
Format: LP
Label: S-S
Country: USA
Price: $10.00
"Originally released on CD in 2002 by Psych-O-Path, Michigan Haters never got a proper vinyl release. So after years of Sightings and SS talking about doing a single, I finally said "Hey, Michigan Haters needs to be in vinyl. Let me do it!" The record being one of the bands favorites, they said "Certainly"...a combination of sounds which one reviewer likened to "a storm of knives." The overblown intensity was joined by abrasive twists and subtle unconventionalities. This is like listening to Terry Riley and Steve Reich though a Big Muff at 110 decibels. With Michigan Haters, Sightings started on what would become nearly a decade long reinvention of the rock & roll song." -S-S

Artist: SIGHTINGS/TOM SMITH
Title: Gardens of War
Format: CD
Label: Smack Shire
Country: USA
Price: $8.50
"Sightings love Tom Smith and To Live & Shave in L.A. with a tad too much avidity. Tom Smith has a similar problem ®C he loves the fuck out of Sightings. They first worked together in 1999, when TS supervised Sightings recording sessions in NYC. Tom produced a full-length album for the group in 2000; featuring Andrew W.K. on keyboards, the project was unfortunately shelved. Guitarist Mark Morgan was to have joined TLASILA in 1999 (he finally made it through the gate in 2004, as did AWK), and was also erased from the line-up of Ohne prior to the launch of their 2002 European tour. (Nothing sinister, O sisters ®C jus pesky post 9/11 visa hassles.) The parties remained close, cordial. Flash forward to November 2003: Richard Hoffman, John Lockie, and the aforementioned Mr. Morgan convene with Mr. Smith at Sightings low-fi basement Brooklyn lair. TS records hours of material on his laptop, but levels are too high, the sound far too digital (i.e., retro). The best stuff emerges from Mr. Hoffmans four-track cassette recordings. Sightings cull their favorite tracks, and send mixes to Tom. TS tweaks everything for six months, and hands the package off to Rat Bastard (also of TLASILA) for mastering. Tom tweaks the mastered tracks for a few more weeks, and... It aint perfect, but considering who these dudes are, its plenty perfect enough for you." - Smack Shire.

Artist: SIMEON
Title: Sleepy Eyes
Format: LP
Label: Bobby J
Country: USA
Price: $9.50
"This is a plaintive and personal, yet inexplicably pop record. Stand-outs for me lie in the sprawl of longer songs like The Wind and Sweat Me (both side one) that combine the cryptic whispers and skitters of Skip Spences Grey/Afro with the boop-teet of a drum machine. Simeon is truly doing something very different, very personal, and is already far down that Misunderstood Highway. Pick him up, for his thumb and his record is out." - Luna Kafe.

Title: The Drone Drug
Format: CD
Label: Release The Bats
Country: Sweden
Price: $12.50
"First there was Skkull then there was The Drone Drug... Continuing on the same path, the sound of The Drone Drug is of a similar relentless minimalistic nature as its predesessor. This could be seen as the electronic backbone to last years amazing Blood Spirits & Drums Are Singing (Conspiracy Records), creating a heavy beast with the most basic and stripped-down use of variations in drones and frequencies instead of guitars and percussion. Monotonous motor humming via drugged-out machinery and assaults of feedback attacking with a strong feel of claustrophobia. Compared to Skkull, The Drone Drug evolves more around a grim and abrasive sound, constantly toying with lo-fi aesthetics and a rough industrial edge. The atmosphere created is thick and black, bringing up visions of a dystopian society trembling on the edge of the world. Spreading the disease in a world slowly dying, The Drone Drug is poison and affect you it will. On this recording, The Skull Defekts is Joachim Nordwall and Henrik Rylander. 4 tracks cut by an unsharpened razor. Total playtime of 52 minutes. 4-panel digipack with artwork by Daniel Fagerstr - Release The Bats

Artist: SKY JUICE
Title: Hard To Kill
Format: LP
Label: Olde English Spelling Bee
Country: USA
Price: $12.25
"Vinyl debut from the legendary/mythical Sky Juice twins. The brothers Sky Juice Jones and Sky Juice Jackson are musical telepaths and simply have no fear, riding the groove as long as it takes to navigate the back alleys of Clevelands most dangerous neighborhoods. Severely mangled guitar gunk astral-projected from deep inside the twisted lobes of Lambsbreads Zac Davis. Unavoidable private press vibe, with mumbled cliffs edge moan & groan vocals, drums courtesy of the Corwood session-player circa "Electric End", and guitar rave-ups that share a tattered couch with The Index, Raven, Low End Lars, and Vulcan. Limited & numbered edition of 300. Paste-on covers. Photocopy collage inserts. Ohio bummer." - Olde English Spelling Bee. Features Zac from Lambsbread.

Title: One Thosand Bird Ceremony
Format: CD
Label: Soft Abuse
Country: USA
Price: $8.50
"The Skygreen Leopards are easily the most structured of any band in the Jewelled Antler stable of projects, which is not to say that improvisation figures heavily to their sound (oh, it does). What you get are loosely-structured psychedelic folk songs arranged with banjos, bouzoukis, 12 string guitars, tape loops, Hammond organ, and a host of other instruments. One Thousand Bird Ceremony is easily their most accomplished and fully realized album yet, and its the perfect soundtrack for the summertime. The Skygreen Leopards are Glenn Donaldson (Thuja, The Birdtree, The Blithe Sons, The Franciscan Hobbies) and Donovan Quinn (Verdure)." - Soft Abuse.

Artist: SLUGFUCKERS
Title: Three Feet Behind Glass/Instant Classic
Format: 12"
Label: Insolito
Country: USA
Price: $15.00
"TIME TO GET TO KNOW THE SLUGFUCKERS….. The Slugfuckers were started in the late 1970s in Sydney, Australia by Terry Blake (vocals), John Laidler (guitar) and Graham Forsyth (bass) who were all at the time students or recent graduates of the Department of General Philosophy at Sydney University. Craig Wilcox (keyboard), Gordon Renouf (guitar, sax), Austin Laverty (drumkit) joined soon after. They released two extremely rare singles in 1979 which are combined on this 12" and an album in 1981. Bridging the nascence of punk, DIY, and industrial, The Slugfuckers took the true intent of punk and carried it to a logical extreme. With shouted vocals, almost rudimentary playing, volume on ten and many obligatory messy interludes they enthralled, engaged and repelled in equal parts…A raw, underproduced angry attack that bores right into your brain. "It will catch the ears of those who can embrace abstract punk sounds or industrial harshness. To be filed alongside The Homosexuals, The Desperate Bicycles, The Instant Automatons, The Prats, Door and the Window, The Versatile Newts, etc etc. Avant / Post -punk madness that leaves you scratching your skull . Noise historians will wonder over the use of Manson references, Burroughs samples and Anti-art manifestos way before the Industrial boys tried to claim them as their own." - Harbingersound. "...noisier and more abrasive than most first generation industrial stuff, a hell of a lot more punk than, say, The Lewd and intelligent in a scary, vicious bullying kind of way" - Johan Kugelberg, Ugly Things Magazine. Limited to 500 copies, its on 180 gram vinyl in tip-on jackets with the artwork from the EP and poly lined inner sleeve plus liner notes." - Insolito.

"Studio Collaboration Recorded and mixed by DR. ID. himself at Smegmas Portland studio during Metalux/Giffoni summer tour. Total weirdness full on psychedelic improvisation in the classic Smegma style, amplified by Giffonis arsenal of unmatched apocalyptic precission machinery and Metaluxs own arsenal of strangengeness electronic sound and vocals from the next dimension. Already a total American classic before it even existed. Enjoy the Present. The Eternal Sound is now and forever. Coreleased between the Legendary LAFMS(Los Angeles Free Music Society) label, and No Fun Productions. Limited to 500." - No Fun.

Price: $14.40
"Maria Antoinette, companion and muse to Jack Smith and a cornerstone of performances at his "Plaster Foundation" loft theater in the late sixties and early seventies, collected the drawings that Smith made in the context of their artistic association. This book presents some of those drawings - fantastically energetic ballpoint pen and magic marker illustrations of creatures real and imagined - along with photographs and other documents of the two artists at work and at play." - Printed Matter. Soft-bound, 32 pages, 8 1/2 x 6 inches. Incredible collection of rarely seen drawings by this eccentric NY performance artist/filmmaker/photographer. Artist: SOFT HEALER
Title: Gentle One
Format: 7
Label: Captured Tracks
Country: USA
Price: $4.25
"Soft Healer began in 2008 in an attempt by Marie Butcher and Will Slack to cover Suicide songs on pedal steel and clarinet. The duo swiftly failed at this and decided instead to play music with a more forgiving set-up. They began playing bass and guitar and got a drum machine; they quickly found that all attempts to reconcile the stark, percussive landscape of Colossal Youth with a Staple Singers group hug yielded something that was distinctly neither, but went with it anyway. After their first show, Soft Healer became a trio with Sara Berger joining on sax and organ. A few shows later they were an even four with Nick Decarmine playing drums. At this point the band collectively owned all of the first nine Funkadelic albums." -Captured Tracks.

"Soft Metals the Cold World Melts is a stealth fighter with a thousand lethal weapons bristling under its sleek carbon wings, buzzsaw Orlando bassline and invincible italo riffage, swirling spiral of mind melting EMP synths and spectral diva propaganda. Price: $4.25
"Heres a two sided burner from Luis Vasquez Soft Moon. "Parallels" features sprawling landscapes of jaunting rhythms and pulsating basslines, like some sort of weird meld where krautrock meets Blade Runner. WHITE WAX! "The band is one of the long line of lush, dark pop bands that sprouted out of the tail end of 80s post-punk and shoegaze. The Soft Moon pick up the very best elements of those movements and craft a sound thats not unlike anything out there." -Hypetrak

"On the heels of two sensually dark 7 inches, Luis Vasquez of The Soft Moon, has completed his self-titled debut full-length on Captured Tracks. Raised under the burning sun of the Mojave desert, Vasquez channels both his punk upbringing and Afro-Cuban heritage to sculpt decidedly dystopian soundscapes for a new generation of torn romantics. Its a record set somewhere in the near post-apocalypse where technology enchants as much as it destroys." - Captured Tracks.

"Neo romantic minimal wave with Neo Deutsche Welle touches. Six hits for you to dance and listen to..." - Enfant Terrible "Solitairen Effekten is more than influenced by the early 80s electronics, they simply try to emulate the total way of working of the pioneers. They dont use midi or computers, which is hardly imaginable today. The result is a pure 80s electronic sound like a mix of Front 242s “Geography”-period and German 80s bands (for the German vocals). The song “Ein kleines Stinnerung” perfectly brings these old memories alive." - Side-Line

Artist: SONIC CATERING BAND
Title: Live from the Canteens of Atlantis
Format: Double CD
Label: Absurd
Country: Greece
Price: $11.00
"Spanning their very brief live career from 1998 - 2001, the two CDs convey all that was exciting, frustrating, ridiculous and ultimately nourishing about an S.Catering performance. CD1 begins at the beginning: w/ the first carrot chop at Londons 333 nightclub, 27th September 1998 and ends at the end: Genevas Moloko restaurant, 9th November 2001. In between lies a lean collage mix of culinary overdrive, assembled from every gig the project did capturing the various moods & atmospheres that were created during their live sets. Extracts of their 5 hour shift at The Moloko are manipulated and included between tracks 1,3,5 and capture/present a dense atmosphere at the restaurant. a cd giving you a great example of their sound, showing nearly all of the projects sides, full of various & bizarre moods & atmospheres, sometimes a bit rhythmic or others harsh or obscure. CD2 is the documentation of their last proper performance at genevas forde gallery. An hours recording full of meditative, abstract, spacious soundscapes. This is sonic catering bands definitive live document, minus the food of course. The CDs come in a gatefold package with a reminisce by the band and a list of our live dates/venues." - Absurd.

Title: Taal Compass
Format: 7"
Label: Blackburn
Country: USA
Price: $5.00
"Sore Eros Taal Compass single is more than just a quick pit stop between last years Second Chants (Shdwply Records) and the upcoming Know Touching LP. Both “Taal Compass” and b-side “Wide Open,” which features space age post-punk hero Gary War on synths, are slow burners that reveal an understated majesty, but their style and execution suggest wildly different mindsets. The title track is plaintive, with songwriter and lead man Robert Robinsons vocals emerging organically from the analog distortion that coats the song. Flip the record over for an atmospheric epic that builds gracefully to an overwhelming crescendo that certainly earns the name “Wide Open.” In an edition of 500." - Blackburn.

Title: Lady Chatterly
Format: 7"
Label: S-S
Country: USA
Price: $4.25
"Back in 1986 a few guys got together in London-town in order to form a band. They ran an ad in the NME and found themselves a singer. They went through a couple drummers, played a bunch of gigs, released a few records, and called it quits. The band was forgotten by all but fans, friends, and a few music freaks. Fortunately, this band had some live footage that made it to the internet...and that live clip made tens of thousands of music fans say Guh-guh-guh-GAH! The band is the SPERM WAILS. While prominent in Englands Camden Noise-core Scene and having toured with the legendary My Bloody Valentine, the Wails sister band, the SW didnt get much of a listen outside of Merry Ol. Their three records (Boy Hairdresser 12", Carry-On 7", and Grim/Stroke flexi disc) were self-released and never got the run they deserved. And as far as I know, they never made their way off of Monkey Island. If you would have asked the S.S. Records brain trust about the Sperm Wails, you would have gotten a blank stare. That is until the Lady Chatterley surfaced. Propulsive punk rock with post-punk chops and one hell of an edge, Lady C. showed a band that could have held their own to any of the eras heavyweights (Big Black, UT, Sonic Youth, etc.). S.S. figured Gotta have record. Problem was finding it. Lady C. had been released but in short run as a freebie with some obscure fanzine. The song was crammed on the record with three tunes by others and that was not right! Former members of the band were tracked down and begged for the right to release Lady Chatterley in proper form, as the A-side of a 7". After much searching some Wails dug up an unreleased gem called Mr. Wonderful, a twisted piece of Fall-pop. And that we called the B-side. The Sperm Wails broke up in 1989. Members remained active in Londons music scene, playing in bands like SPECTREMAN and THE LONDON DIRTHOLD COMPANY. Currently, a couple former Sperm Wailers are playing in the band BLOWHOLE (not the free jazz band of the 1990s). 500 pressed."-S.S.

Artist: SPIRES THAT IN THE SUNSET RISE
Title: Four Winds The Walker
Format: 10.25
Label: Secret Eye
Country: USA
Price: $10.25
"Spires that in the Sunset Rise is a four-woman free folk band from Chicago whose musical palette includes the cello, bul bul tarang, various drums and bells, ecstatic yelps and cackles, and all manner of plectra.. Their eclectic, outsider folk has drawn comparisons to Comus, Current 93 and The Raincoats. After releasing their self-titled debut on Eclipse Records last year, Spires played the underground psychedelic Million Tongues Festival at ChicagoŰǸs Empty Bottle, along with Josephine Foster, Espers, MV and EE, Nick Castro, Kawabata Makoto and Kinski. They later joined the Incredible String Band for six dates on their US tour. ŰǹTheir eclectic, pagan-inspired and oh so damaged free folk meanderings bring to mind the event in a ghostly precise way and I guess that could be considered a great compliment if you, like me, belong to the category who worships the ground of Comus and Current 93." -Mats Gustafsson for The Broken Face.

Artist: STACCATO DU MAL
Title: Sin Destino
Format: CD
Label: Wierd
Country: USA
Price: $7.25
"Wierd Records is proud to present the new LP by Staccato du Mal, entitled Sin Destino. Freezing out the heat-seeking Miami scene with his cold minimal synth for the past decade, Ramiro Jeancarlo (1/2 of the industrial outfit Opus Finis) offers up ten tracks of analogue darkness. Sung in both English and Spanish, the forthcoming album is informed by Jeancarlos half Chilean, half Venezuelan background. Pervasive throughout the LP is an aura of dread and claustrophobia that without a doubt evokes the hot, dry, lonely landscape of suburban South Florida. But beyond the dismal swamplands, its possible to detect the mournful ambiance of cultures plagued for centuries by colonization, civil war and political turmoil. Whether Jeancarlo means to offer "Salvation Through Suffering" as an alternative to everything from Catholicism to revolutions-turned-tyrannies is not explicit, but the distinctive mood of dread conjures something more monolithic than plain nihilism. Therein lies the fascinating duality: "Lost Image" could as easily land in a soundtrack to a film about a lonesome teen in desolate suburbia as it could a film about Pinochets Caravan of Death. Despite the disorienting feeling of so much of the album, Staccatos own coup d鴡t comes in the moments of resolution where warm melodies and nearly psychedelic soundscapes counter the bleakness. On “Desespero,” Jeancarlos pleas to “let me in, I want in” are frighteningly forward but made inviting against a danceable and very accessible synthpop background. The instrumental “En Sue񯳔 has a sweetly bright melody atop sinister beats that plumb the depths, while the synthesizers in “Happy Endings” happily climb into major dimensions as the signature darkness shines through. While this album could be described as Wierd Records least commercial release so far, Staccato du Mals music is rich with sonic feeling that makes for infinitely rewarding listening. Working within the confines of the minimal synth genre, Jeancarlo manages to include elements of pop, noise, and industrial that slink to the surface with each eerie listen." - Wierd.

Title: Perfect Place To Hideaway
Format: CD
Label: Pedal
Country: Japan
Price: $16.50
"This is the long anticipated followup to their first album , WILL, which was chosen by British magazine WIRE as one of the best albums of 2004. Perfect Place to Hideway has sensual grooves not heard on their earlier work, cold, icy riffs, and an overwhelming tone of nihilism in the vocals, all masterfully put together to create a multi-dimensional, grand listening experience. From opener Subway, with Michio Kuriharas guitar lines weaving through eternal, repetitive grooves and Ishiharas controlled, unique vocals, this album ushers in a new era for the band. From the slashing guitar riffs to the impenetrable grooves laid out by the rhthym section, from the anarchic, bold arrangements to the dark lyricism, the unique album creates an overwhelming, cosmic listening experience."

Title: Harry Smith
Format: One Sided LP
Label: Root Strata
Country: USA
Price: $9.00
"The first vinyl side from these Northern California mushroom farmers is a real doozy. A live soundtrack to the silent psychedelic films of American hero Harry Smith, this one sided LP is more free drift than free jazz...taking off from a shot in the dark and never touching ground again. Each one with punk rock paste on black & white collage art." - Root Strata.

Title: Shrine of the Post-Hypnotic
Format: CD
Label: Root Strata
Country: USA
Price: $8.50
"Hidden away deep in the damp forest fog of Northern Californias Humboldt County, STARVING WEIRDOS have emerged once again with another batch of stoned-out inner space slow burners. Utilizing everything from homemade instruments and toys to guitars and drums, the core duo of BRIAN PYLE and MERRICK McKINLAY, joined by various members of their collective, chart a course deep into the heavy waters of group mind. The result is a record that gracefully arcs the outer rim of a hallucination-a travel log of the hazy fragments of a lucid dream, one filled with wild birds and hungry ghosts, animated flora and a full moon overhead. Another winner from the Root Strata pod of wonder-sure to disappear as quickly and mysteriously as it arrived." - Root Strata.

"This is the high and mighty speaker shredding first documentation of the duo of Chad Stockdale (Klondike and York) and Kevin Corcoran (Antennas Erupt, Get Get Go,). The idea behind this album was to make a hardcore record but through free jazz idioms. Chad played tenor saxophone through a rat pedal and Kevin got in touch with his inner hardcore monster for the drums. Chris Woodhouse (engineer extraordinare of A-frames, Hospitals, Coachwhips) recorded for maximum potency. This is a seven-inch of loud whirlwind sudden blasts of howling, house-flattening, molten meltdown compression chamber free core. Artist: STORM BUGS
Title: Up The Middle Down The Sides
Format: LP
Label: Fusetron
Country: USA
Price: $9.50
"After some twenty years in the wilderness when Storm Bugs were known only to a handful of aficionados, the DIY electronic duo were rediscovered in 2000 when they were included on the deliciously dodgy but possibly seminal bootleg LP I Hate the Pop Group. A CD of the Bugs finer moments followed shortly after on the reactivated Snatch Tapes label and prompted one receiver to comment "How could such sounds, radically challenging the accepted texture of electronic music, have been recorded over 20 years ago?" Another review suggested that.. "they were spiritual forefathers to Oval and todays Clicks & Cuts generation". Since 2001 Storm Bugs have featured on stations such as Resonance FM and WFMU and there have been more archive recordings by Philip Sanderson (one half of the duo) reissued by labels such as Anomalous and Die Stadt including collaborations with Organum main man David Jackman. There was even an EP of new material The Bugs are Back put out by Klanggalerie in 2002. Many have thought that there must be more vintage Storm Bugs recordings in the attic and after a 2 year period of intense rummaging and restoration Fusetron are pleased to present a further installment of Storm Bugs material from 1978-82 entitled Up the Middle Down the Sides. The LP delves deep into the Snatch Tapes sound banks to produced two continuous collaged sides of often-spontaneous sonic experimentation. Tracks such as Skid Pan Buoy and Thin Line Flash of Traffic use the classic Bugs DIY instrumentation of rewired radios, scratched vinyl and disemboweled guitars (Storm Bugs were circuit bending before the term was invented). Other pieces such as Little Bob Minor exploit the sonic capabilities of that most eccentric of British synthesizers the VCS3. But this is not simply a barrage of industrial mayhem for spliced into the fabric of controlled excess are moments of contemplative soundscapes such as 111 and Waspbottle, the latter scored for a duet of milk bottle and wasp synthesiser. In short Up the Middle Down the Sides is possibly the first (and last) DIY electronic concept LP." - Storm Bugs. The Storm Bugs are Philip Sanderson and Steven Ball (with special guest David Jackman of Organum on the track In The Naked Girls Majesty).

Title: Spitting Gold Zebras
Format: CD
Label: Bottrop-Boy
Country: Germany
Price: $14.50
"Sunroof! have done it again. Music steeped in clattering noise and rumbling drones prevail once more. The work of English sonic pioneer Matthew Bower remains unequalled. Meditative drones bathed in sunshine are swiftly exchanged with bursting volleys of noise. Sunroof! specialises in transparent, breathtaking concoctions of sound with some unexpected insights. Keyboards, guitars and electronics are submerged in Bowers transcendental whirlpool and the listener will want to dive in from the outset. Matthew Bower has a vision. He does not see sound as confrontation or provocation, but rather as a passage to another dimension. Under the name Sunroof! Bower paints layer upon layer of sound, subtle in their sublime and jubilant in their pure ecstasy, the resulting picture a peerless panorama – a tableau where light touches of water colour are mixed with dark smudges, black as coal. Spitting Gold Zebras is Sunroof!s latest update on its state of affairs. Bower gets heroic support from guitarists Marc Orleans (Sunburned Hand Of The Man) and Mick Flower (Vibracathedral Orchestra) and violinist C. Spencer Yeh (Burning Star Core). Like the true shaman that he is, Bower reroutes and transforms all incoming sounds. Sunroof!s renewed interest in unbridled, screeching noise is immediately evident. These clamorous visions of sound previously featured unrestrained in Bowers work on records with bands such as Hototogisu and the resurrected Skullflower. The uncompromising end of Spitting Gold Zebras is an ourobouros of annihilating noise; a hungry snake, continually gnawing at its tail which eventually swallows all of the surrounding sounds. Again, Sunroof! challenges the faithful, who are left staring in the sun, ascending higher and higher towards Bowers golden sound at the end of the rainbow. Spitting Cold Zebras is packed in beautiful new envelope packaging designed and handprinted by Jason Dodge & Christine Roland." -Bottrop-Boy.

Format: LP
Label: Soleil
Country: Sweden
Price: $15.75
"Last year saw the danish/swedish duo heading over the pond. They rented a car and got a not very detailed road atlas. Learned that public payphones are some quarter eating pieces of shit. And That cheap $7 chinatown voltage converter turned out to be a total rip off. They fried their power strip during soundcheck at the first gig in Nashville. An overwhelmed Klyd Watkins was in the audience, and the poet was later reported being "lost for words" when taking off into the night. So what about the music?? People whove seen them play have mentioned Patty Waters, Linda Sharrock, Brother Ahh, Strange Strings etc as reference points for the drooling gawkers. It sure is recalling the homeburned jazz sounds of the past. They play French horn, Flutes and saxophonic vocals over soothing harplike tidal waves. Where The Last Vocalions is the perfect late night/early morning nod out spin, the next album will be the wake up call. We for long thought this was the record that wasnt supposed to happen. The stampers broke a handfull of times, then later the pressing plant sufferd from a power blackout after a storm etc. It was planned for their US tour September 06. Now its a new year and here we finally have it." - Jacques Smoi, Lyon France. JAKOB OLAUSSONs (Destijl) new project and self released LP.

Title: Puheluja Pimealta Puolelta
Format: LP
Label: Ikuisuus
Country: Finland
Price: $17.50
"Cream, Traveling Wilburys, Humble Pie, Susi-Unto... all supergroups have their stories to tell. Jussi Lehtisalo (Circle, R䴴 Lehtisalo, Pharaoh Overlord, Steel Mammoth etc.) got to know Janne M䫩-Turja and Raine Liimakka - the elastic rhythm section of Can Can Heads and Valse Triste - a couple of decades ago, but it is only now with Susi-Unto that they have ended up making music together in the same band. The original idea for the trio was to play some punk but the end product is something far more rough and multi-faceted. Puheluja pime䬴䠰uolelta was recorded during one intensive weekend. The album is harsh on the surface and frayed at the edges, but may contain traces of surprising sensitivity - crushing brutality meeting tranquil vocal melodies, the beauty meeting the beast. Puheluja pime䬴䠰uolelta is only available on 12" vinyl. Susi-Unto has plans to record some more music before the end of the year. Co-released by Full Contact, Ikuisuus & Karkia Mistika. 142 copies." - Ikuisuus.

Title: This Is The Truth
Format: CD
Label: Hospital Productions
Country: USA
Price: $10.00
"Ground Fault Recordings and Hospital Producitons would like to announce the upcoming release of "This Is The Truth", the first Sutcliffe Jugend studio album in eight years. "This Is The Truth" quite possibly stands as one of the most original and perfectly balanced noise compositions of the last 10 years. It references and uses classic Sutcliffe Jugend of old while bringing in an entirely unique and fresh element one does not hear in noise. This album is a brilliant blend of foreboding tension, and anxiety while using the most lively, disturbing, and textural elements of noise. All of which are brought together with the phenomenal detail and balance of an accomplished electronic composer. Songs that you think will explode leave you hanging with tension, while others erupt with violence out of nowhere. Its an absolutely brilliant album that was worth the wait."

"..3 tracks from their one and only cassette from 1982 and is featuring ANDI ARROGANTI, which you should allready know. Side starts with a tune called "Paul" which is really minimalistic. It has some synthesizers and sequencers on it and they sound great. The flipside starts with "Auf dem Teppich" which is totally DAF or LIAISONS DANGEREUSES like." - Was Soll Das? Platten.
